Niemi is the real deal so just platoon him and Huet...................Roloson to Detroit makes sense for Howard , a younger goalie on the Island

No need to throw the Isles a goalie, we need to shed one off anyway. Just a pick would be great.

I'd love to see Roloson with Detroit, he could be huge for them in the playoffs. He can be pretty damn clutch when he needs to be.

Isn't Roli signed for two years? And his cap can't be buried because he signed a multi-year deal after 35. Don't think Detroit will touch that contract.

Like the player, but it's too high risk.

I'd go for C.Anderson

Just out of curiosity, why is Roloson being offered up instead of Biron? While Roloson is the better goalie, hes also older than dirt (see: Osgood). Plus he has another year left on his contract.

What kind of pick? And what kind of prospect position are the Isles weakest at?

Biron has more trade value than Roli. I think thats why they signed him in the first place.

Biron to DET would be very cap friendly...

biron to the hawks for a second?
or biron to the hawks for a prospect like sweatt?

hawks bury huet and go with biron / niemi tandem all year 50/50 then decide who played better and go with them for the playoffs

Holland outbids the Hawks if thats the case. Hell, Detroits second will be better than the Hawks second anyways, for the first time in a bazillion years.

And I'd love to see how happy ownership is to waste 5.6M of their dollars in the minors. Theres a reason teams suffer through seasons while keeping guys like Huet, Nylander, and (in the past) Theodore despite terrible contracts. That 5.6M isn't monopoly money, you know.

Cap wise, Detroit can afford to do either, as long as the deal didn't happen any sooner than December. If Detroit was desperate sooner (which they very well may be) then they'd have to ask for Biron.

yes i do know but all the millions the hawks are making right now because they are finaly winning isnt monopoly money either....and having and even better shot at winning a cup and having extra cap room to make sure they resign toews/kane/keith and keep on winning for years to come will be worth far more then the 5.6 they lose on huet

Exactly. The Hawks are making millions with Huet in the lineup. Why would they waste another 5.6M?

You don't think the Caps are making millions over in Washington, especially with Ovechkin merch to sell? You don't think the Leafs are raking it in every year, and for that reason they'd piss away 4M (Toskala) in the AHL?

Shhh, just let him think that because a franchise is making money for the first time in a long time, they'll want to piss it all away on a minor league player.

I think Biron would be traded before Roloson. Younger, cheaper, only one year on his contract. Either way, the Islanders need defensemen and RW prospects/young NHL players.

Nah, they only need 3 centers, 2 rw, 3 lw and 5 d.

Tavares, Okposo, Hunter, Moulson and Streit can stay. they only need to replace everyone else.

Meh, I think Nielsen should be traded for a big, young 3rd line center. Somebody would have to give a good package for Nielsen considering his bargain contract.
