Ebbett a Blackhawk

Blackhawks have claimed Andrew Ebbett off waivers from the Ducks. However I don't see him having a spot on the roster...maybe an AHL move?

8-24-32 in 48 games played last year and his cap hit is like 500k. Why is he being waived?

Ebbett needs top 6 minutes or else he has no use. He couldn't get that in Anaheim, who have a player coming off IR in Wisniewski and have been too impressed with his replacement, Mikkelson, to send him back down. That leaves Ebbett as the least useful player on the team.

As a one-dimensional forward with nice passing skills he certainly has a role as reserve scoring option.

Why do we hate Jack Skille so much?

Nice pickup. I was very surprised when I saw he was waived.
Definitely gives us some depth. I'm guessing he starts in Rockford and could potentially be an injury call up. It gives us a bit of breathing room against the cap

he's in the nhl. to send him to ahl would require the blackhawks waiving him and if he cleared all other 28 teams the Ducks would claim him back and assign him to their AHL.

He was recalled again today. I think this maybe about Bolland and his back.

would you guys do this?

Halak, Sergei Kostitsyn, 2nd round pick.
for
Sharp

?

one of Ebbet, Skille, or Sergei could be a cheaper option.

Maybe re-unite Kost with kane?

Kostitsyn - Toews - Kane?

Kostitsyn is overrated and i would rather give picks + Steeger (even tho he is my favourite hawk) for Halak.

Sharp is essential part of this team, if we let him go we dont deserve Stanley Cup.

Harsh words but its what i think.

Fine as in this move was about Skille and not Bollands back and him missing time. His back has been bothering him for over a year now and I am aware of that.

flames fan here,

I think this is great for you guys... watched Ebbett last year on the ducks, no superstar, but the guy definitely has some good playmaking skill and has the potential to be a pretty good second line NHL player, with the capability of playing with first line talent (as he did with Selanne)... I would put him in a basket with Chris Kunitz...

anyways you guys have an amazing team this year, I think with Ebbett and the return of Hossa you guys have the potential to roll out 3 scoring lines and still have a strong 4th checking line

You can't claim a player off waivers and send him to the AHL.

Honestly I have no idea. Unless Bolland is hurt for a while, which considering he played last night without any obvious sign of injury is pretty unlikely, the Hawks top 9is basically set at this point. With Hossa coming back in Nov/Dec, there could definitely be a trade coming up to get rid of a forward, the obvious target being a goaltender. If Ebbett is a natural C as I assume, and not equally valuable as a winger, it seems the only logical place for him would be the fourth line. Can't see him unseating Toews Bolland or Madden. I would actually like to see what a line with Kopecky-Ebbett-Skille could do as a 4th line seeing decent ice time, this would be quite the offensive 4th line and decent enough to hang on D if needed. Fraser could stick around as 13th F until Eager or Burish come back, and kill penalties- that's all he really brings to the team anyway. Most of the Hawks top 9 can play PK anyway so I don't know how much you need Fraser in that role although he did have a nice chance at a shorty last night- they need to get Sharp back on for more PK, along with versteeg that is solid short-handed goal potential, Steeger has had a breakaway several times on PKs recently although yet to have any SH goals this year.

Long story short, I think a trade is going to happen sooner rather than later with the Hawks forward depth; and you have to pick up a top-6 caliber forward with cap hit of 500k whenever he's on waivers, and see if you can fit him in. Surprised none of the lower teams picked him up, although I guess they have little use for a final year before UFA player, since they want to develop prospects of their own. I think this should clear up over the next week or so, see if Ebbett plays on Wed. and if so who the Hawks take out of the lineup. Skille deserves to stay up and Fraser should finally see the end of his reign as worst Hawk forward, but I kind of doubt this will happen as Quennville seems to love Colin Fraser who is mediocre but will never be anything more.

I don't know. I kind of like Fraser... but then again I am far from an expert.

our forward play is the one area our team has absolutely no problems. Strange move.

It doesn't seem that strange, this guy seems like the perfect 13th forward.

Ebbett is replacing Skille on the roster, Skille will be moved down (if he hasn't already) to Rockford per Joel Q. on http://blackhawks.nhl.com/ I assume Ebbett will play with Kopecky and Fraser, unless Bolland has to miss time which it seemed Saturday night he does not.

I like this pick up, he's got great speed and fairly good playmaking skills, he had a decent year in Anaheim last year and played half the season. With a cap hit of 500K this can only make our team better, plus we now have 3 players on that 4th line that can all play C (Kopecky, Fraser, Ebbett).
