LA needs solid 2nd line center

Who would be available? Ideally Bergeron, Wolski or Roy would be great playing between Frolov and Brown. But maybe LA goes smaller Plekanec, Stajan or E.Belanger? Any ideas?

Matt Stajan would likely be available.

Well ideally the center acquired would play with Frolov. Plus with Stajan and Frolov both being UFA I think LA could land some good picks/prospects/players for Frolov at the deadline if not in playoff picture

Frolov might just be the tonic the Leafs need (i.e. a hockey player).

Neither Stajan nor Belanger (really?) would be a plus over Stoll. Plekanec can score presumably but his intangibles are lacking. Wolski is a huge question mark to me...very streaky. Roy would be too difficult to pry from Buffalo. Bergeron is the only one of those mentioned that might be reasonably attainable and beneficial for the Kings. Chances are, if you want that legit #2 C, we'd have to fork over Fro, so there goes your ideal 2nd line.

This may be completely out of left field BUT say we wait until Schenn is good and ready to take center stage (pun intended) and then we go win us a Stanley.

...You're right, that'll take too long. SELL THE FARM.

How is Stajan not a plus over Stoll?

He has playmaking abilities, for one. Stoll is a winger who's good at faceoffs.

Stoll's not a winger. He's a center who is excellent on the draw and has a massive slapshot and solid active stick on the PK - translation he's awesome on the PP + PK but is rather "ineffective" at ES.

Stoll > Stajan.

Wolski would be the best fit if you ask me.

Not for playing on a line with Frolov, because Colorado would want a Top 6 winger back in the deal and odds are it would be Frolov.

I was going to post Wolski, but then in the OP it says that the center is to play with Frolov and Brown. Don`t think a deal would work without Frolov.

Pens would love a number of LA's wingers.

Stoll > Stajan.
I know what he is. He can take faceoffs, has a Kotalik type shot from a powerplay and solid defensively on a PK. He's not a playmaker. Offensively he's more effective at wing, at least at even strength. And I assume LA is targeting a 2nd line center to improve at ES.

Ideally and what will happen are 2 entirely different things.

Toronto is giving up 2 top6 players in order to get the player and style that they need.

hagman is signed to a reasonable contract, is defensively sound, and can score. Stajan is your second line center for behind kopitar and you get rid of your UFA and can resign stajan on the cheap for a year or 2.

I doubt that.

Both teams would be filling 1 hole & creating 1 or more other holes for their team.

Pens still need Staal. He's not a dominate player, but he's very solid. He'll score 20+ goals, kill penalties and play good D against top forwards. He's a prototype 2nd line center despite being buried on the 3rd line in Pittsburgh because of those 2 guy's named Crosby & Malkin.

Kings might want to add a 2nd line center, but I'm sure they want addition without subtraction from their NHL team or they'll just be filling one hole and creating another like I said. If they're in it at the deadline maybe there will be a seller that will take prospects/picks for a pretty good 2nd line center. I'm sure that's what their hoping for.

If the below statement is true, I doubt it.

Well you aren't getting Brown, Smyth or Williams. Frolov is going to be dealt. Purcell could probably be had, same with Stoll who can play wing. Moller could be dealt too.
