McGratton's Gone - to Calgary!

One headache we didn't need anymore of.

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=284462

"The Calgary Flames have added an element of toughness on Saturday as the team announced the signing of free agent forward Brian McGrattan. Terms of the deal were not disclosed."

Since Calgary seems to like our garbage, does PHX have enough 1st rounders to trade to them so they can take The God-awful One?

Wait, did they get David Hale from us?... I thought we got him from them. I'm confused.

Lundmark Langkow Sjostrom
Prust Jokinen Murray

Yes McGratton, you can still sit out another season ... put those pills down!

Edit: I almost forgot about Pete Vandermeer

I'd take Langkow back for Denis Gauthier in a millisecond. Bad trade.

Was probably the only player that would be exciting to watch this year. Such a weak team with these "kids"

Would have loved Orr over here, but I know most if not all people on this board are not fans of fighting.

Eh well, good luck McGrattan, I look forward to you Stortini, Boogaard, Koci, Parros and Shelley. See ya on Hockeyfights.com

Hopefully Jim V can step it up.

You excited by watching people in suits sit in chairs? How do you even get a view of him in the press box anyway?

So, what, about 500 milligrams?

I am not certain we can gauge his abilities based on last year.

I would have liked to see McGratton resigned as the 13th forward. His size and strength and meaness could help our young squad.

You mean that most NHL enforcers don't wear mascara and give dirty looks for just 5 games? Business suits and seat cushions are great investments for players like him.

I'll do it for free as long as they put me in a suite every game. Throw in free food and I'll even wear glitter mascara.

McGrattan box score against the Canucks:

5:55 of ice time
5:00 of penalties
1 goal
1 assist
1 Gordie Howe Hat Trick.

He fought Hordichuk and I'm pretty sure Hordichuck was unconscious from the time he took the punch until he hit the ice.

Also of note: 2 fights for Prust, and Dawes scores his 2nd goal.

They also got the Finn from us who is making is making $5.5mil this season & has 1 regular season goal in 21 games going back to last season.

I also have no issue clearing up roster space by moving Prust or Dawes considering we also picked up in the off-season Lang, Fiddler (Face-off %) & Pyatt (Albeit injured). We also kept Prucha who certainly seems to be more of a spark plug for the team. With regards to toughness, BizNasty will fill the role just fine until we have a better idea of what our team may need down the road.

I agree. I wasn't second guessing losing any players that are now on the Flames. I thought it was cool what McGrattan accomplished during the game. It's nice to see someone who had some issues having some success.....especially if it means Sutter will waste a lineup spot with him in the games against the Coyotes.

he actually has 3 points in 3 games and has actually shown he has decent hands and has actually played with dicipline... i'm in shock over his game thus far to be honest... i still would be shocked to see him finish with more than 5 points on the year

That's why he's got her... not too clingy! (and tattoos are a sure-fire sign of a bad ass).

Nice to see McGratton have a good game. Still don't see any room on the Coyotes for him, Dawes or Prust long term. (We used to have Hordichuk too). Now Langkow I'd take back. And Jokinen, I think we're better off with Lombardi, the first rounder in this years draft and the extra $4M of cap room (between his salary and Lombardi's) which arguably is being used to pay a good chunk of Vrbata, Aucoin and Robert Lang's salaries. I think Lombardi's an underrated player whose been great for the Coyotes since the trade.
