pregame is up: http://lakingsnews.com/2009/10/19/pr...v-vs-richards/

Quote:
The turbulent river is flowing freely after Frolovís errant pass to Jason Chimera broke the dam. Murray is upset with Frolov and the fans are upset with everything. Whether they lynch Murray first or simply turn on each other remains to be seen, but both scenarios have a cauldron brewing a bitter soup of malcontent. In the divisive debate over Frolovís value to the team, the first stone has officially been cast, and the fans are scattering and taking sides in city hall protest worthy fashion.

Murray has tried to get through to Frolov, but Frolovís response has been nil. Rich Hammond posted quotes from Murray on the subject: http://lakingsinsider.com/?p=663

ďThereís nothing coming back. Thatís the 10th meeting along those lines, and nothing ever comes back. So, I donít know.íí

Sounds like unrequited love. Or perpetual disdain. Not sure which statement applies to which person.

Good bye Fro, it was fun while it lasted. I hope you net us something that will help our team this season, and not more draft picks.

That said, GO KINGS!

4-2

I'm not usually the one to charge conspiracy, but look at Hammond's questions. Sure looks like he's leading the conversation in a specific direction, no? "Isn't that kind of troublesome as a coach" - that's a total Oprah question, a "How do you feel when your husband beats you?" sort of question.

It is very interesting that they are going public and damaging his trade value.

Would be a great question for Crawford if Hammond can find him.

Ouch.

I love Frolov, but after reading this it's hard to defend him. He will not be a King after this year.
No, he won't be a King by the end of the year, probably not by the end of the month. Whether you're pleased with what you've read about Frolov's reaction or not, Terry Murray is an idiot to say that in public.

Abso-friggin-lutely!

It's like Murray is actually so personally frustrated he can't contain himself. He has always been Mr. PC comment. Why the shift now?

All my excitement for this game went down the drain after hearing about Frolov being scratched. It feels like I'm going to be watching a train wreck.

its so frustrating to have such a skilled player act so unmotivated and then see him go off for a short period of time....followed by yet another bout of doing nothing....

Why cant every player have the drive and motivation of Ovechkin.....how fun would that be to watch??

Apparently justifying themselves to the fans is more important than getting maximum value.

Drano and TeMu realize that Frolov is suffering from the battered spouse syndrome, and are using it to their advantage to sign him to a 4 year, $6M two-way contract?

Once again I will say it regarding Hammond: he is the face of the Kings PR machine.

Cammalleri, Vish, Boyle and now Frolov all get derided on the blog and most of the fan base takes whatever is said on there at face value.

Seriously, you have a 35 goal scorer in Cammalleri that is remembered by most now as a greedy not-that-good hockey player and Visnovksy turned from being touted by Kings fans as a Top-10 defenseman into somebody who just isn't very good.

The blog has everyone worrying more about f'ing contracts than on-ice performance. Call Terry Murray an idiot for saying this in public but it's all done for a reason. This won't really hurt his trade value because Frolov hasn't changed his game and these comments don't change them: the league knows he is an enigma.

These comments are more about preparing the fan base to say goodbye to a long-time King. Soften the blow by making it look like he doesn't care and that there is no getting through to him.

I posted my thoughts on Frolov in the Hbuzz Rumors II thread last night and I think it's pretty dead on. I was thinking this morning that Sturm + might be in the cards unfortunately. Sturm would slide into that 3rd line spot and give LA more speed while Frolov helps replace Kessel for this season and his salary is of no concern to the Bruins for next season.

The Kobasew trade may change things though...I don't know how much more money they are looking to shed.

By TM publically saying this, doesn't that SEVERELY diminishes Frolov's trading value?

Shouldn't DL and TM be on the same page when publically dicussing a player's (poor) performance? That poor player who LEAD the team in goals last year? (that's not really a comment on Frolov, but a comment on the rest of the "scorers" on this team.)

Quick will steal the game tonight 2-1.

I think Frolov has been great thus far, although i was stuck in a three hour line just to get out of the Edwards Airforce Base Airshow saturday that i missed the whole game. It seems to me that DL and TM are just starting drama intentionally with Frolov to give them an excuse to get rid of him. Thats Bs. **** those two *******s

I was starting to think that it was time to move Fro before this was aired to the public.
I think LA needs something new. What that might be, who knows. But we are already thin on LW as is so if Fro is moved it will have to be with + something for an upgrade on that side or two youngish potential players (one being a replacement for Fro).

He's been awful the last three games.

Anyone else find the answer Murray gave before the Colombus game regarding Frolov and his health odd. It's on Hammond's site but apparently there was "a long pause" before Murray said he was okay.

Either he is sick and can't play or he can play. There is no reason for a long pause or for Hammond to include this fact.

Either way, he is out of here.

Yeah, I came in here to offer some kind of thought about this whole debacle, but this post pretty much sums up my feelings.

Farewell, Fro. You were one of the best LWs in the league when you're on your game.

Man, management is pretty royally mismanaging the situation, eh?

Farewell, Fro. You're awesome when you've got some actual top-six talent to play with. I'm crossing my fingers for Pit or the Wings to get him - I think he'd fit like a glove on those two teams. (Or, well, most teams, except for the Kings. Duh.)
