What's the x? Not much right? To me it seems like a new low in his value to the caps. It wasn't a player for player, ie sloan.
It was a few games of flash vs an asset.
But we aren't learning anything new, some of us expected Fleischmann to start on LTIR, I for one was surprised when he didn't. But no it technically does not mean he was eligible to go on LTIR all along, although I think it is a true statement. And no it was not a few games of Fleischmann unless you assume someone else will be injured and waivers was not an eventuality. But yes, it does say where they value Bourque vs others.

well, I'm watching 2 games and typing, lol. I'm just saying we really aren't learning anything new. Just a technicality, but you need medical say so to be able to place a player on LTIR. I believe they could have gotten that with Fleischmann given the medical issue, although we don't know the details, many of us were projecting TF to start on LTIR. If they had put him on LTIR to start and played Bourque for some games, then, when Fleischmann was ready to return, there is still the same cap issue that existed at the beginning of the season and Bourque still would have ended up on waivers upon TF's return. Whether it was belief Bourque would clear or they ranked him lower organizationally than some here, they chose to waive him earlier rather than later. Whether it was that they thought TF would be ready sooner? We don't know.

Strung, Langway answered the Ebbett cap hit question, low cap hit, like Aucoin's.

Ah I see your point on both. My ASSumption at the beginning was that TF couldn't be ltir'd. Today, to me, eliminated that thought hence my post. Cause if he could it just didn't make sense to not do it.
True maybe there was something majically revealed between pitts claim and theo's injury but like you I highly doubt it.
The 2nd part is true. Once TF came back you have to make a decision. But most people do kick the can down the isle and deal with it later.
But to me that future is inconsequential except that gmgm maybe would think hed clear.

At end of day, barring something unlikely wrt TF eligibiltiy, gmgm thought it was better to dump bourque and make BB look like an ass instead of ltir'n Flash.

And I too am watching 2 games. But watching my yanks pursuing another (bought) championship is easier to think cause of how slow baseball is.

And yeah strung I can see your middle finger wrt the yanks from here.

You don't need to direct that comment at only Strung

I agree that pushing the decision out if it was possible is the strategy I thought they would take. As has been noted, Bourque could be on waivers again at some point and we may or may not learn more about the Caps feelings about Bourque if that happens, i.e., if the Caps or someone else claims him on waivers vs his being assigned to the AHL by the Pens.

addn: back to Ebbett, I wonder if Vancouver submits a claim...

I just don't like the caps acting like a bush league org if they can help it. As much as I didn't believe in his future they treated him like the boys treated marcelious wallace.

Before jules corrects them of course.

I don't think there are many, or any, that think they handled that situation well based on what was reported.

Yeah agreed. Most hated it.

Part of my hope for saving face was that flash couldn't be ltir'd and sloan just provided too much value (to gmgm) to accept looking like a fool.

Jarred Tinordi ranked 23rd by ISS in their latest '10 draft rankings. He's captaining the US NTDP this year. I'm pretty sure London still holds his rights so it'll be interesting to see if he plays junior next year or heads to Notre Dame.

There are a few other players that will be eligible next year with Caps ties but they're not nearly as highly touted.

Fleischmann is an elite player... in the American Hockey league. In the NHL, he's a soft below average scoring line winger.

Marylander Nick Sorkin to represent USA at the World Junior A Challenge. (Link.)

Caps pick Greg Burke suited up for USA last year, the first year USA won the tournament.

Flash finally cleared for contact.

Fleischmann is assigned to a four-forward line with Chris Clark, Eric Fehr and Michael Nylander.
I don't know why I find that line amusing...I just do. It's like a mixture of players that get the most grief on these boards...that are not defensemen.

for his pay level, Flash is an elite player. I could make that leap . . .

Perhaps Boudreau meant to say "lite".

Maybe Flash is going to get shifted back to Center...didn't he come up as a center way back when?

That way they can keep benching baldy.
