sorry but the guy isnt fit for a beer league 4th line. just another god aweful acquisition in sathers every growing list of mistakes. I personally catn beleive there are still people who still think he's an upgrade over orr, rediculous. The guy cant skate any better than orr, is a friggin fossil, cant/wont fight anymore and is a minus player while logging a whopping handfull of minutes per game...gimme a break. If we're not going to use that spot on the 4th line for an "enforcer" then they shouldve just kept sjo, who btw is +3 right now. Brash past the swansong stange a long time ago...

If I'm not mistaken Sjostrom played a couple of games on Calgary's top line, so that's a tough comparison. I'm no Brashear fan, but find someone better to compare him to, like Orr for example.
One terrible hockey player for another IMO. Orr knows he's not there to play hockey, and Brashear is having a tough time figuring that one out it seems so far; and there I think is the big difference between the two.
i was actually comparing him to orr, i was saying since brashear isnt much of an enforcer they may as well have kept sjo and kept him on the 4th line. As for Orr being essentially the same player, you're right to an extent although orr actually wins most of his fights and he is more effective on a team FAR worse than the rangers. So all things considered i would absolutely prefer having Orr over brashear any day of the week.
That's about it...he was horrible on offense as on defense. No offensive ability whatsoever and he seemed to like getting himself into trouble in his own end.
(Habs fan)
Good for him finding a job though, just don't think he's got anything left in the tank. Hope I'm wrong.

They both suck. I wish they didnt feel the need to have an enforcer at all. have four lines that can score...Grachev, Lisin, Boyle
Mathieu Dandenault is not a fighter, a goal scorer or a tough guy. He's a responsible stay at home defensive who is a lifetime +42. He only played 41 games last season in Hab town because he broke his arm. Had 4 goals 8 assists and was a +7.
He's a faster skater then Rozsival and Redden. Better positionally. Can play fourth line foreward in a pinch. Think of him as a more talented Jason Strudwick.
Great move by Sather. Inexpensive reclamation project.
oh you guys are in for a shocker with dandenault...
Trust me, Paul Mara is quite an upgrade on him.
Horrible in the defensive zone. Cannot play every night. He's decent as a spare part. 12-14 mins on D or 4-7 mins on O. He's a decent penalty killer as a forward. But he barks when he doesn't play.
He's good for 50 games. Basically, you guys had to fill a roster spot and no one else from the farm is ready.
++ oh yeah, he is a fast skater. But he has no idea how to use his speed.

Well, considering we'd be bringing him in as a spare part, I don't see the problem. We're looking for a seventh defenseman, and Dandenault seems to fit the bill. We won't even need him for 50 games in all likelihood.
Also, that's an inaccurate statement that no one from the farm is ready. Both Bobby Sanguinetti and Mike Sauer are NHL ready at this point, but John Tortorella prefers a veteran defenseman to fill that seventh spot, rather than a youngster who has more to gain by playing every night.
