Maybe Flash is going to get shifted back to Center...didn't he come up as a center way back when?
That way they can keep benching baldy.
He might have played center a few times with the Warriors...but I don't think he's has an extended stay at the pivot in his Caps/Bears/Pirates history.

I'm starting to get the feeling that the Pens might get Frolov, without even getting rid of Staal. The LA brainiacs will probably love the useless and overpaid Kunitz. And Frolov will be dynamite in Pitt.
Alzner had 1g and 3a his first game called up in my NHL 10....just sayin....

6 - Number of playoff series the Capitals have won since George McPhee took over as General Manager in 1997 (which makes him the third-longest-tenured GM in the League), three of which came in McPhee's first season on the job.
Update:The team has signed third-round draft pick Cody Eakin to a three-year entry level contract. In nine games with Swift Current of the WHL, the center has nine goals and three assists.
So Flash is back smiling ear to ear. I am sure Bruce is too. Injuries may dictate where he gets plugged into the lineup but otherwise I think Bruce is forced into going with 3 scoring lines (i like strungs 3rd line - the FaNCy line) or demote Laich and reunite his checking line.
To get through the day thursday, I think Bruce will play Flash. Saying he hasnt had any contact and needs time.... Ha, like they'd hit him in practice anyways. I hope Nylander is forced into the lineup and does well. Certainly not playing has failed to move him.

Flash can't come back for another 2 (or is it 3?) games because he's on LTIR. He's required to be out a certain amount of time, and that hasn't passed yet.

The Caps have played 10 games; he has to sit out 10 NHL regular season games and 24 days. The first game he is eligible to come off of LTIR and play is Tuesday against the Flyers.
Gordon is out for Thursday per the updates; but will travel as he is possible for Saturday. Semin is questionable for Thursday due to illness.
IMO, if he is sick, the best thing is to keep him away from the team, locker room, travel on plane, hotel, etc. If he gets better they can have him meet them on Long Island for Saturday's game.
So do they call up 2 forwards or call up 1 and play Sloan as a 4th line forward for a game... sounds like the plan is to call guys up.
Of note, there is cap room due to the Backstrom bonus cushion and Fleischmann on LTIR at the moment. Still if they call up 2, the lower cap hit guys will likely get the call-ups. I have to run the numbers to approximate how much room they would actually have to use against 2 call-ups.
