Andrei Kostitsyn + Sergei Kostitsyn
Personally I think that we are overpaying for a pending UFA and someone that might turn into a Kovalev in this league (someone who floats and does not care at times).
It still wouldn't help us out, as our second line would definitely be missing something. I'd rather package Sergei + pick to get a 2nd line winger, if possible.
So that means it's not worthy of being discussed? It makes a lot more sense than most of the crap suggestions and rumours on these boards anyway. Also I heard it discussed by Pednault this morning on CKAC so it can't be that old.
Only thing about this is that Frolov is a UFA at year's end I believe. Not sure I like the idea of losing both Kostistyns for nothing. Although I like the idea of losing them, personally.
Given the number of Habs with long term deals and the number of upcoming free agents, it will pretty much be a one year rental. Frolov is likely looking for a Cammy type of Contract.
If Frolov was the missing piece of the puzzle for the cup, I'd say go for it and take my chances that he walks. But let's be honest, he isn't. If we were to trade both Bros, I'd want a more long term solution to the top 2 line problem.
Gainey needs to start getting young cheap talent, we don't have cap room for everyone, either get 1 superstar or stock up on cheap affordable young talent.
Not sure why teams would just swap problems, and it seems to me the Habs would pick up the bigger problem.
I also think we'd be overpaying and this deal won't happen anyways.
In no way does it make us better. We'd still need another winger to complete that 2nd line because Lapierre is not the solution.
You have to be quite desperate if Lappy plays on 2nd line.
I wouldn't mind seeing that deal happen but it still wouldn't help us fix that problem on the 2nd line.We need a player that is capable of coming in and playing with what we have right now,if we add Frolov to play on our 2nd line and lose Andrei who is playing on the 2nd line we aren't really getting better.Sergei and something else pick or prospect and then we have a pretty good 2nd line
I don't expect that we'd trade andrei at this point, he's been playing great hockey the past few games and then you're still stuck missing a winger on the top 2 lines.
