I don't like the review aspect, it will just slow the game down. They should either keep the play alive if it comes off the netting and back into the ice, or how's this for an idea, move the netting about a foot back from the boards instead of right up against them. It solves the issue of stray pucks flying into the stands and if the puck hits the net, it most likely will come down on the other side of the glass.
If review is the final option, I think it should only come into play if a goal is scored before the next whistle.
A glass cieling atop the boards, so they play in a shell. Put a hole in the middle over the center ice dot to drop chainsaws and maces. Put cameras everywhere. Motorcycles with studded tires. The whole shebang!
Can't they just come up with some type of sensor that trips when the puck hits the net?
Those nets are constantly get messed with by fans trying to get pucks out of the fold at the bottom.
I don't like the "just play it off the net" thing, just because it's too much of a change to the game. Don't forget that not long ago, "off the net" meant "in the crowd," and that the net was added for safety after that girl died from a puck to the head. I have a feeling players would figure out how to use the net to set up a play somehow, and alter the game too much.
