Scott Parse Called up

It's either bad news for Williams

Or Lewis and Purcell aren't cutting it.

Williams could be hurt...

but both Lewis & Purcell are doing fine in their respective roles.

The team has room as it is not carrying the maximum number of players. With back-to-back games this weekend, why not reward a player leading the team (& 2nd in the league) in points with his first ever NHL call-up?

This will be interesting, gonna have to wait and see what the final reasoning is from Rich. Probably a replacement for Lewis if anything.

Great news! Hopefully, he can play some quality minutes.

I'm thinking Lewis gets sent down.

Lewis has been very average.

I think Parse could be a good injection with Purcell and Stoll if Williams is out for a period.

Could Frolov finally be on his way out perhaps?

LoL, I'd rather we'd have signed Shanahan. If nothing else, he would provide our bottom 6 with superior mentoring.

Parse = career AHLer

even if the situation with Williams is something minor like a strain of some sort, calling someone up on a back to back weekend isn't a bad idea.

I've never seen Parse play, my guess is Williams goes on the IR.

If Murray is serious about improved secondary scoring, then this may be to set up a Parse - Stoll - Purcell third line. Otherwise it may be to replace Purcell, who has looked bad/sick/hurt recently, or Lewis, who doesn't look ready for a scoring line right now. Unless it's the precursor to multiple line changes, I don't think it's to replace Williams. Parse is one of the only natural left wings we have so I assume that's the position he's coming to play. And Ivanans seems to have a near-stranglehold on the 4th line LW, meaning it's got to be the third line for Parse.

Purcell has looked fine but he IS a natural RW whereas Parse is a natural LW so the call up makes sense if the kings want to move Purcell back to his natural position.

NHLsourcesay is also reporting that the kings are shopping Frolov for a 3rd line tough scoring winger and a dman

More likely the latter of the two. And IF we were to acquire Barker, which dman would sit? 44DD just signed a 3 yr extension and I don't see OD getting moved without his approval. Which would leave either Greene or Scuderi.

3-year or 50-year extension, if the choice is between Cam Barker and Davis Drewiske, you're playing Barker... and i like Drewiske.

Well, that's just it. 44DD won't be sitting nor is Barker (assuming he's traded here). That is why our only options are Scuderi or Greene. It doesn't make sense to sign 44DD to a 3 yr extension to have him sit much like Zeiler. I think DL learned his lesson there.

At this point I dont know why the Kings need another D....Drewiske has played well, the only issue is what happens with O'Donnell in the off season....that is the only hole...

Johnson, Doughty, Scuderi, Greene and now Drewiske are main stays.....O'Donnell is the older soon to be UFA....so we need to replace him next season....but whoever we trade for will sit in the press box until someone gets hurt or they want to cut OD's minutes...

Also, if they trade for a D man....no room for Hickey next year....

trust me when i say that it won't be Greene or Scuderi getting sat either. sliding Odie into the 6/7 role is the most probable option, and even that wouldn't be likely.

regardless of how effective Drewiske has proven out in his less than 30 NHL games, he is STILL cutting his teeth... and there is certainly NO shame in his having to platoon in the 6/7 role for a season, should a move like this even be made.

+1, I'm really curious to see him play at this level. Sometimes you just don't know until they are given a chance. Hopefully he can compete until Williams is healthy enough to play again.

Per Hammond.......

Scott Parse skated with Stoll and Purcell today, and likely will play that way tomorrow. Terry Murray said Justin Williams is out “another couple days” with his sore, um, lower body. Smyth-Kopitar-Simmonds and Frolov-Handzus-Brown remain intact. More quotes and notes soon…
