Quick and Drewiske sign 3 year contracts

Or so says my email from the Kings. Funny that they email it out before giving Hammond the news.

"Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today that the Kings have signed G Jonathan Quick and D Davis Drewiske to 3 yr extensions. These deals will keep both players under contract through the 2012-2013 seasons" was the email.

Drewiske: Nice!

Quick: Premature?

BTW .....has anyone noticed how Drewiske is really, really good at 1) keeping the puck out of our zone, while 2) keeping the puck inside the opponent's zone?

If our D was

Drewiske / Drewiske
Drewiske / Drewiske
Drewiske / Drewiske

....we'd never allow another goal again!

why would an extension for Quick be any more premature than one for Drewiske? it was the right play for both.

In truth, if DL used last night's "stoppable goals" in contract negotiations with Quick, then yes, the timing actually was appropriate. Let's just hope Quick can fix the weaknesses in his game.......

I'll be honest, Drewiske was one of my biggest concerns this off season, but he leads the team in +/- and has been steady and even been a little mean back there...

I wasn't concerned but I will admit I have been VERY happy with him. Congrats DD!

Will you guys ever be happy ?????????????
Man, Quick is a Goalie like i couldn't remember here in L.A.
He is awsome and his way to play the game is entertaining.
He will make his way, keep in mind he is very young and plays liek a 10 year pro.
The sky is the limit for that guy.

He is the last one i would complain about

Actually, timing for DL couldn't be better. Quick hasn't had the best of start so, DL probably got him to sign for less.

given the unfamiliar depth in net that the Kings have diligently worked to achieve, i sometimes think people have neglected to remember that our number one goaltender is 23-years old.

As the official driver of the Drewiske Bandwagon dating back to last season, let me say there is plenty of room for you guys to jump on.

Only flaw in his game right now is how he has to take a minor penalty every game.

I think it is premature for Drewiske only because the deal is most likely a one-way contract and not two. With that said he has proven to be a solid 4-7 d-man.

Quick signing also may be premature but keep in mind, if he has a great complete season his value would go way up. DL obviously likes what he has seen and most likely signed him to a CAP friendly deal.

I like both deals and I love how DL is really trying to keep his players together long-term.

I'm going to guess DD gets around 4mill for the 3 years and Quick gets 5ish.

I always wondered why you thought he was so soft. He took a roughing minor/misconduct from the bench last season for getting involved in a scrum that happened in front of the bench and he usually finishes his checks.

I've been more surprised with his skating and ability with the puck. He showed me smarts last season but I wasn't copmpletely sold if the physical talent could match the mental.

Lets see what the terms are.

I see you next to me on the highway. Should I keep driving or attempt a high speed manuever? Is your wagon nicer than mine? Are there topless girls on yours?

Of course not. There is always something to complain about when you are a Kings fan.

I'll be the first to admit that Quick hasn't played as well as he can this season but the team is winning games and that is all that matters. Quick has the ability it is just a matter of getting back to where he was last season which I think he'll get to. The coach is being very clear that he expects more out of him.

Wow, that seems somewhat inflated.

I'm thinking more like 44DD get something around 2 mil and Quick get something closer to 3.5 mil.

2 mill over 3 years is like league minimum isn't it?

I don't understand this sentiment of the Quick signing being premature, not unless he was signed to some ridiculous contract which I doubt.

Quick should be - at worst - a damn fine backup goalie in the NHL. We also have Bernier coming up to the NHL soon.

All this signals is that Ersberg will be looking for a new place to live within the next season.

I think he meant, 4mil / 3 years = 1.33 mil per year & 5mil / 3 years = 1.67 mil per year.......

Although I'd personally give Quick 1.9 per year. For a #1 goalie, that's a hell of a bargain.

I think the league minimum is around 500k. I just can't see 44DD getting over a mil a season.
