Am i the only who has seen Latendresse improve ?

in 07-08 he had 16 goals, 11 assists in 73 games. 27 pts
In 08-09 he had 14 goals 12 assists in 56 games 26 pts

It's not a fast progression, but that shouldn't be surprising, there's nothing fast with guillaume, plus he's playing mostly on the 3rd line, be patient guys ! he's 22 !

Believe it or not, at some point last year Lats and Lapierre were our two most consistant players, at least the most outgoing line. It's unbelievable how much a season does.

But realisticaly I don't see the Habs ever trading Lats. It's gonna be a sh*tstorm if it ever happens and the media will ask for Bob's head. And this time it will succeed.

He's not a powerforward, and probably will never be, he just doesn't have that aggressive edge to his game, but when he actually has time to shoot the puck, he does have a good snap shot. What I don't understand is that when he was playing in the QJMHL with Brassard, he was very often in front of the net, waiting for a Brassard feed. I thought it would be natural for him to do that in Mtl... what happened ?

Also, he's frustrating in that sometimes, when he shoot or makes a pass, he just stops moving his feet, and watch the game... each time I

He's young but his intensity is a bit mind-boggling...

Let me guess, if he is traded, we'll receive a combination of small players and picks and use those picks to get more small players.

Amiright ?

That's a dumb rumor, with the size in the top 6, we can't afford to trade our biggest and most physical forward(that plays regularly). Yeah he's has a slow start but stop posting crap people.

Maybe, but if Trading Lats and Carle/Fischer Gets us Frolov? I'm in. No I did not see that anywhere, all i read was they want a 3rd liner and a D.

The way he plays right now, Moen, Gionta, Lapierre, Metropolit, Chipchira, heck even Plekanec plays more physical than him...

And Latendresse has nothing to do with our top 6...

Here's one of of the hundreds of "Please trade Ribeiro for a bag of pucks" thread I could find.

And here's a funny poll that shows a majority of HF Boards users thought Gainey actually made a good trade by getting Niinimaa for Ribeiro, or thought it was a good deal for both sides.

I have no trouble believing that those who applauded that trade are now blaming Gainey for doing it. Or maybe they still believe it was a good trade just because we got rid of a player they hated? And they are probably the same retards that want Latendresse traded for a bag of pucks now.

Saddening.
Big difference between Ribeiro and Latendresse. Ribeiro had skill and just needed a head shake.
Latendresse is just not terribly talented.

Mike Ribeiro is a weasel and embarrassed the team and the city with his on-ice soccer antics. If he had stayed, I seriously doubt he would produce like he is in Dallas. The trade wasn't even about Janne Niinimaa, it was about dumping a cancer.

from hockey30.com

If Lats' name wasn't Latendresse a bunch of people here wouldn't speak so highly of him or against people who don't like him. It's funny.

I'd rather keep Lats and hope he somehow gets a pair of balls and some hockey sense to go with it, than lose him for a pick or iffy young player. It's not like we have a ton of 200lbs+ forwards waiting on the wings...

You're wrong. After their first three seasons respectively, Leclair had played 205 games, scored 46 goals, 60 assists for 106 points. In Latendresse's first three seasons he has played 209 games, scored 46 goals, 36 assists for 82 points.

46 goals each at the same period of their carreer: i guess that shows that Lats is at least as good a scorer as Leclair was while not being as good a passer.

His name being Latendresse is both a blessing and a curse, he got preferential treatment and made the NHL at 19 because of it, but that also probably stunted his development.

I'd bet that he'd be a better player right now had he returned to play another year of junior and then paid his dues in Hamilton for a year or two.

The only thing we can hope for is that we don't make the same mistake with another young powerforward who doesn't quite look ready to play in the NHL yet. *coughs* Pacioretty *coughs*

Something else to consider is that Leclair was 22, 23 and 24 years old when he put up those stats. Latendresse was 19, 20 and 21.

Yes, well said. Thats yet another reason to hang on to him and not have him score 50 goals per season in another team. I feel he's an even more complete player this year and the season's still young.

Maybe a 20 goals+ season is in the cards for him this year. I was SO pi**ed off when the Habs gave away Leclair..., i dont want to see that happen again!

And Leclair did not played with Begin and Downey for half a season. Now, Lapierre never had lots of assists and Moen is a guy with about 20 points per year ... You better have expectations like you usually do for a checking line.

Arguments from Latendresse haters :

-He has a high number of hits but he's always late to hit.

-He doesn't finish his checks.

Now, that's funny and well argued!
