Hey great GDT! Thanks for putting it up. Games against Coyotes make me more nervous than any other team. Too bad they didn't start JLB. I've been dying to see a game with him against us. Oh well.
In regards to the goaltending, I was thinking about this the other day. We really didn't get to see Quick until the middle of the season. Maybe he's a bit of a slow starter. I'm sure he'll rip it up as the season goes on. Seems like he just needs to simplify things and believe in himself. Never seems to have a problem taking responsibility so that's good.
We win tonight if we play an angry, physical game, with fights, face washes, and general hostility. The Coyotes are a soft, skating team that has won with great goaltending by Ilya (yeah...remember, when Dean decided not to pick him up from waivers? Grrrrrrr). Get in Ilya's face, force the Coyotes to play our game and we kick the crap out of them tonight.
Great start Kings!
Any word on starting Goalie tonite ?
It will be Jonathan Quick.

I don't think any of us (including me) ever got that story completely right. From my understanding, the Coyotes, at the time, were lower than us in the standings and had first dibs on waiver pickups. They claimed Ilya before Dean ever had a chance.

Maybe I'm wrong.
The Kings were pretty far down the waiver order at the time Bryz was waived, somewhere between 10 and 12. For all we know they probably put in a claim.
Order at the time was:
Washington
Buffalo
Edmonton
Phoenix
Florida
As the Los Angeles Kings look over the faces on the Phoenix Coyotes’ bench, they will see two things. First they will see the Western Conference’s second best team. This will be but a fleeting image.
The lasting picture in their minds will be a much harsher one, the visage of humiliation.
The Kings lost their season opener to the Coyotes in a performance so awful, one would have thought TWA had been resurrected to sponsor the game.

You're wrong, purely out of principal.
Also, Burke was offering a 2nd rounder for him and I am almost certain Dean turned it down.
Absolutely...his lauded resilience will be put to the test in the wake of that atrocious 3rd period against the Stars.
This will also be a big game for the Kings in general, provided they go into the final frame with a lead. What happened on Thursday has happened in almost every one of the Kings' wins so far this season and I hope they'll be motivated to prove they can competently close out a game after coming so close to having their last W snatched away.
