Clowe, Murray, 1st/Couture for Ballard. However, I would pursue Burns first (due to a lower cap hit+ I think he is a bit better).
I think Ballard would be a good fit with the Sharls. What type of return would you look for? I think Clowe, Couture and a 2nd, or Clowe and a 1st would be fairly close IMO

Well i guess you guys would want young players (25 and under) and picks.

So I can See Montreal interested in moving some young players/pick and having interest in Weiss and Ballard.

So let's say something based around:

To MONTREAL:

Stephen Weiss
Keith Ballard

To FLORIDA:
Ben Maxwell
Yannick Weber
Matt D'agostini
Sergei Kostitsyn *free, he will have his 1st line minutes....lol*
1st 2010

With maybe a couples adds here and there...would it be something your gm would look at?

It's something Gainey wouldn't look at. Ever heard of the salary cap?

A team like Montreal can not give up that many quality young players and prospects, a first round pick on top of that AND take on an extra cap hit of almost 7M. Inexpensive talent is immensely important for teams like Montreal with a cap hit close to the maximum.

HMMMM let's see:

Montreal has a Mass of 58.418M$ and cap is 58.450M$
Stephen Weiss: 3.1M$
Keith Ballard: 4.2M$

Up to 65.718M$

D'agostini: 500K$
Markov Inj.: 5.75M$

Down to 59.468$

that leaves us at 1M$ approx. over the cap....that's what the *couples players/picks added here and there* means...

With weiss and ballard beeing only 26 i can deal with the young leaving...

That's what i think would be best.
You don't think so..that's fine too

And what do you do when Markov comes back? His full cap hit counts even while he is injured, but we can exceed the cap by as much as his cap hit while he's out. Once he comes back, we'd be well over the cap ceiling and trying to fit those two under the cap would be hell.

It's not so much about them being young than it is about those guys being inexpensive (which Weiss and Ballard aren't). You need inexpensive, quality players to balance the expensive players.

To Florida: Jiri Tlusty, Nikolai Kulemin, Mikhail Grabovski and Carl Gunnarsson (He's a good young prospect, was very impressive in the preseason).
To Toronto: Nathan Horton, Colby Robak

Some nights he looks like a $5MM a year top-pairing guy, other's he looks like he's never played a game in his life. His only saving grace is that next year, he'll start having a salary that's actually lower than his cap hit. Might be of use to a team that operates closer to the cap floor with an internal budget.
no offense but i have never seen a night where he looks like a 5mm a year top pairing guy ...the best hes ever looked is just like al top 4 pairing guy ...never even close to a top pairing by saying hes looked like a top pairing guy that means hes looked like a top 60 dman in the league and he never has

Everyone except Kulikov and Frolik, imo could be had. Any interest? I think a lot of these players could benefit greatly from a change of scenery.
Ballard isn't touchable,

Florida doesn't even return the call. That's a bunch of spare parts plus Kulemin for a first line forward and a very good prospect.

The two most valuable pieces in the trade are going from Florida.

People, Markstrom, Frolik, Kulikov, and likely Ballard are untouchable right now. There's especially no chance in hell that Markstrom gets moved.

I didn't see a price tag on him, but I'll give you a quarter for David Booth.

I could use one of him around the house. If not, then I'll donate him to the Lightning. Better than in the trash at any rate.

Horton is the best player in that deal, but we don't need him.

Why don't we need him? Are we winning the cup with the team we have? We can always get better

I don't even like the guy, but I'll still admit he can be a top pairing guy on his best nights.

Jordan Schroeder, Van 1st 2010, and a 2nd 2011 for Horton.
Schroeder could be the wunderkid offensively to build around as a potential top line player. But pretty much 2 1sts and a 2nd for Horton. Canucks can fit Horton in with minor tweaking and Demitra staying off the ice til play-offs.

Would give Canucks a team that can compete with anyone.

Sedin-Sedin-Horton
Burrows-Kesler-Raymond
Samuelsson-Wellwood-Bernier
Hordichuk/Glass - Johnson - Rypien/Hansen

Mitchell-Salo
Ehroff - Edler
Allen - Bieksa
Schneider
I like these. I think Allen and his knee are a bit worrisome.

Ballard's asking price would be pretty high. Top prospect and top pick. He is signed long term.
