Toews injured?

Toews left Wednesday's game in the third period after being knocked down by Canucks' Willie Mitchell, WGN-AM Radio in Chicago reported.

Toews got his bell rung at center ice and went to the bench. A few minutes later he went to the locker room. CSN in Canada pointed out that he was holding his midsection when he went back to the locker room.

hopefully this isn't too serious.

That doesn't sound too good. Even though I'm a canucks fan, I really hope this guy isn't too bad. From a Team Canada perspective, its going to be important to have young guys like him driving the vets for positions on the squad, whether they can make it or not.

I was thinking concussion right away. But he seemed to have his witts about him. But definitely weird with the whole midsection thing. TSN during the game mentioned it too

Dude got jacked.

If he doesn't have a concussion I'll be impressed. Regardless of what he was saying on the bench he barely made it there.

when they slowed down the hit it didn't look too bad, but I did notice the look on his face, it reminded me immediately of the look on someone's face with a concussion..i did not notice him grabbing his midsection, hopefully he will return to the ice quickly bc we cant afford to lose him (he has a + rating in every game thus far)

As part of a concussion a player can vomit. I wonder if he was holding his mid-section because he was trying not to.

Regardless, I do hope he is OK. He needs to be healthy and firing on all cylinders for Team Canada. I think I also have him in my fantasy pool.. or is it Kane... now I have to go look.

i would say that toews definitely got a bit (or more) concussed in that collision. I got concussed pretty badly on a similar play a few years ago. I reacted the same way (jelly legs and falling down), as well as having the identical expression that toews had when he was on the bench. you want to think you are fine, but your mind is a lil' cloudy, and you're just trying to focus and snap out of it.

i sincerely hope he is ok. one of my favourite players. im a canucks fan, but i hate seeing guys like toews go down with an injury (especially a concussion).

It's an "upper-body injury." Hopefully this one doesn't land him on IR like Eager.

They shouldn't rush Toews. We can play without him for a game or 2.

Seabs we need back though if he can play

I wouldn't mind giving Toews a little break. He was having an atrocious game before he went down, I wouldn't expect much better from him if he's half-concussed.

He's off to such a slow start this season, that having him out of the lineup isn't going to be a tremendous change anyway. Let him get his **** together and maybe he can come back to the lineup with a little bit of game.

The collision would have looked much different if it was Mitchell running into Byf.

He was 3rd in the league for the face-off winning %. Not bad. Also he was like +6.
He wasn't scoring much be he was doing a lot. Still, I hope they don't rush him back not even 10 games into the season. He and Seabrook too. We shall see what kind of depth we have and Huet shoud get more shots to face. Back to form or still sucking his way out of town is what we will learn saturday night.

Huet wasn't tested much Saturday night, but he got the job done, I'd start him again vs a struggling Minnesota team. With that being said if Toews and Seabs still need rest then I wouldn't rush them back to play a team like Minnesota, give em another game if there is any doubt.

With Dowell being sent back to rockford I would guess Toews will be playing monday.

They were trying to save a buck or two I guess (cap wise).

This doesn't gurantee Toews playing tonight because could be on the bench, but not dress. Either way he plays tonight, if not he plays Thursday.

Dowell was recalled again this afternoon around 1 p.m., this doesn't rule out Toews, but certainly makes it more doubtful that he'll be in the lineup tonight.
