LA Kings to Host the 2010 NHL Draft

I know this was partially discussed in the Luc Announcement? thread, but I figured a thread was deserved considering that the NHL has informed Kings officials that the 2010 Draft is in LA.

Props to Hammond: http://lakingsinsider.com/?p=938

So with that, who all would want/expects to go?

Too bad the kings are gonna win the stanley cup this year and have last pick in the draft making it not exciting.

Either way i get to go, my dad runs both. From an engineering perspective.

The 2nd Day would be alot of fun if the Kings don't trade any of their picks by then.

This is niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice. I've always wonder if they've ever had it here in LA. If this is true, I will certainly take a day off and definitely attend the draft. Gosh I hope it's gonna be at Staples.

Ok I checked the rates at the new hotel {JW Marriot} for the night of the June 25th---- $400 a night, for the small room. Book it now before rates go up.

Screw that. Stay at a cheaper hotel somewhere along the blue/red/purple lines and just take the metro in.

I'd go with this too. Fortunately, i'll be living in the south bay by then.

That is perfect timing for me as I go down for AX every year late June to early July. I will just have to go down a little earlier next year. Looking forward to it. Though, this year won't be quite as exciting outside of some possible trade, as I don't think any of us expect a top 5 pick this year, but should be fun nonetheless.

The Kings should just draft Emerson Etem from Long Beach to one-up the Canadiens.

So much for some Montreal fans thinking that the draft would be in Montreal every year from now on.

That's great news! Hopefully we'll have a very low 1st round pick.

Just out of curiosity, don't the NHL announce where the draft is gonna be a year or two in advance? How come we just found out now?

serious thought here~ I am wondering if DL will be more reluctant to trade our first round pick this year now that the draft is coming to L.A...

Screw that, I'm willing to commute down to see it. 30 miles isn't anything.

That's the spirit

The excitement factor will still be there but diminished indeed!
