Some interesting thoughts and comments on Staal above. I agree that Staal has been a liability on the PP, and really has been just plain bad there. Mishandling pucks, poor decisions and passes, little lateral skating ability - at this point, I don't see this in his future. And we don't need it from him.
OTOH, his skating and stickhandling ability on the rush has pleasantly surprised me. He just needs to stop trying to beat 2 -3 guys, and stick to beating the first guy and then make the pass up ice.
agreed with the PP comment especially. Redden would be much better in his spot...he may not be a PP QB but has a perfectly low shot from the point and does well in terms of decision making on the PP IMO. He'd compliment Gilroy on the point during the PP well.
