Not sure if this has been mentioned or not... if not, and you are local to the Ann Arbor area, get out to Yost Ice Arena Thursday night, Dec. 2, 8pm for the Pro-Am Skate for Mott. It's a charity game organized by former Wolverine David Roberts to benefit the "Champions for Children" campaign to build a new children's and women's hospital at U-M.
The game will feature the U.S. NTDP Under-18 Team vs. the NHL. The NHL team is comprised of:
... and who knows who else will show up... Yzerman and Hatcher were just added yesterday.
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door. There will also be a silent auction where you can bid on the game-worn jerseys and even autographed bottles of wine made by Igor Larionov.
Should be a fun night! Anyone lucky enough to attend, pass along a report.
"I'm not saying we got ourselves in over our heads, but we've heard rumors about our competition," Ward joked. "The onus is on us to come prepared."
Do you know if guys like Kessel, Mueller, Stoa, Skille and Johnson will be playing for the U-18's?
It's the NTDP team so all of them will be there. I doubt it's going to be much of an event for anyone hoping to scout them but it sounds like it will be fun. Most of all for the kids playing against all those great players.
Anyone know if body contact is allowed? or is this one of those Oldtimers vs the Police force kinda things?
My guess is it'll be like an NHL All-Star Game. It'll be competitive, but this is all being done for charity, not to kill each other. If Jack Johnson tries laying out Yzerman, he might not live to see the NHL
