I'm just going to say this is probably one of the stupidest things I've ever seen. If I write what I'm feeling right now, my fingers will eventually fall off.

You would have thought he would have learned his lesson with Baumgartener, but no, he didn't.

So basically to prevent someone from claiming him, he has to suck, hence the Flyers could very well lose. This is a lose-lose situation, I don't understand Homer's logic behind it...

Well, if someone claimed him on the way back down it wouldn't be a problem (pretty sure that's the case, I haven't looked into people yo-yoing between)...however, on the way up is absolutely a massive problem. If Holmgren uses up that much cap space for Randy Jones to play somewhere else, he should be forced to stand at center ice and apologize to the fans before resigning.

IR != LTIR. At the moment, Gags is still on the cap.

He's been placed on LTIR...otherwise we literally could not bring up Jones and remain cap compliant.

Gagne, 29, has been placed on the injured reserve retroactive to Monday, but has the option to be placed on the Long Term Injured Reserve (LTIR) which would force him to miss at least 10 games and 24 days. If he is placed on the LTIR, Gagne's $5.25 million salary would come off the salary cap and enable the Flyers to bring in another high-priced player.
Jones isn't on the cap yet. He has to clear waivers first before he can be recalled. This all points toward Gagne going LTIR being pretty inevitable, but it hasn't happened yet (unless the media is misreporting it, which would be not at all surprising).

I don't know what i fear most, dealing with watching this ******* play again, or using our cap space for him to be somewhere else

Yea, that's a point worth investigating. The point will come when we have to send him back down (either with a trade or with Gagne coming back up) -- if we're on the hook for anything and a team claims him, there better be blood in the streets

BTW, is Jones even healthy?

This probably wouldn't happen if Stevens gave Syvret and OKT more ice time.

I'm being told Bartulis has also been recalled per the Inquirer. Anyone see a link?

I knew a move was coming I just did not anticipate this move. If someone silly team claims Jones Homer is ****ed and so is this season.

Gagne is out for 25 games.. Ouch. Flyers medical staff clearly has problems identifying concussions and groin injuries.

Either way, Gagne goes to LTIR before we see Jones on the roster.

My thought exactly. You know he's going to get more ice time than he earns or deserves if he's here.

I was under the impression you had to sit out a certain number of games in order to be placed on LITR, and isn't the waiver period only 24 hours or so?

It's from the moment you declare it...and it's retroactive. So, you say, I'm putting player A on LTIR, that means he's out for the set period of time back to when he was last in a game.
