You guys are reading it wrong. The article definitely implies that we're trading Price, but that we're doing it for a higher return ("buying", as opposed to selling).

The "not doing this to make Halak the starter" implies that whoever we swap Price for will be the #1, not Halak.

It's definitely worded very confusingly though.

ah shoot, we signed luongo one of the best goalies in the nhl (if not the best) to a longterm contract. god, with such a great goalie on our hands longterm, we must trade him for price? lol.

Who know with Eklund, after all he is suffering with "Swine Flu" according to him!

I don't think there's any chance Price will be traded, but if he is it certainly won't be for a goaltending "upgrade." And if we were trying to move him, somehow I don't think Price would be sitting for five consecutive games....

If it were Luongo from Vancouver the only reason I see it happening is that Gillis needs space to keep Kesler from getting offer sheets, and he has a lot of UFA's and RFA's coming up and Luongo is a 10 million cap hit next year.

Montreal could trade Price/AK/SK and picks/prospects to Vancouver for Luongo and package?

That you think any sort of "package deal" we could put together would entice Vancouver to trade Luongo.

What's Eklund is saying is that they're not selling Price -- they're using him to buy an upgrade. And that would be an upgrade at G.

Cap be damned and too bad for the low-cost high-quality G cap strategy.

Yeah, that sounds likely.

Luongo coming to Montreal for Price to me creates another problem with Halak still, with Price here he is going to split or at least play 1/3 of the games. With Luongo he will only play 10-15 games.

Halak would possibly go the KHL route demand a trade still.

Why do we need an upgrade at goalie? We have two inexpensive great goalies already with potentially massive upsides. This is stupid and I refuse to believe it.

NFI, I wish we had an auto-hide Eklund threads option.

It will never happen. I think it's absurd that people think that Price not starting 5 games means the end of the world for him on Montreal. Gainey is FAR more patient a GM and he has the biggest ***** for Price imaginable.

Any Price related rumore is completely baseless and without merit or logic. Hence why they're poping up on radio comedy shows and Eklunds site. This is a kin to people believing the "War of The Worlds" on the radio was actually happening. Kind of sad if you think about it.

This is why I hate Eklown. I head to the Flyers board and some dude thinks Price is now available and ponders if they can get him for Randy freakin' Jones. I am not kidding you.

I would do a large trade with the Canucks for the following:

Roberto Luongo, Cody Hodgson and top prospect or pick.

for

Carey Price, Andrei Kostitsyn, Sergei Kostitsyn, Kyle Chipchura, Alexei Yemelin and Montreal's 1st overall.

It's a large price, but Luongo and Hodgson are two franchise players.
