Well that shows their intelligence as Jones is on re-entry waivers.

To MTL: Luongo, Burrows.
To VAN: The magnificent Sergei Kostityn, and Price's brown pads.

That guy on the Philly board was obviously either joking, or is honestly 13 years old and is new to hockey.

The way he said "Some guy named Price on Montreal" kinda gives it away.

We should make some ****** tripod webpage that one specific person maintains that has all of Eklunds rumors but the word Eklund or Hockeybuzz is sensored, and we all just use that site to hear his stupid rumors, link to that site, etc.

Trade Price our number 5 pick a few years ago?

And while we are at it why not trade both Kosti brothers. What kind of a message will this send all of our young players? We give up on them before they fully develop as NHL players.

Foolish
Stupid
Unbelievable

We need to help our young talent develop in Montreal not some other city.

Do NOT trade any of them. Thats what I say. Help them develop with our team and show other young players that they can thrive and be appreciated in Montreal.

So many of you posters want to trade every guy on our team every time they are not playing like all stars.

How would you feel if your coach told you he wanted to trade you because you were not good enough for the team. Think about it. That is no way to develop a players confidence. In fact it usually does exactly the opposite.

Rumor:

To Chicago:

Price + Plekanec + 1st round draft pick in 2010

To Montreal:

Jonathan Toews + 2nd round draft pick in 2010

I don't think it's true but the only goalie I could see this being about is Giguere. MAYBE, just MAYBE Luongo/Nabakov in a deal we get fleeced in.

That having been said, these are extreme situations that aren't even close to likely to happen.

Then again, Theo started sucking and we traded him, maybe Gainey thinks he's dodging a bullet with Price? I don't know, it's not like we locked him up long term just yet. This rumor seems stupid and baseless.

If this were a real rumour I would probably do it.

Chicago is not going to trade Toews.

I doubt Price gets traded but if he does and for a goalie, my guess would have to be Vancouver since they have many injuries right now and could use some help. But I doubt it involves Hodgson.

If the Chicago GM does this, he'll be fired. If they're going to trade Toews, it better be for a Luongo caliber goalie.

Folks - I'm not sure why anyone who has followed the Habs closely AT ALL over the past few seasons would believe any rumour that Bob Gainey is trying to trade Carey Price.

In my view, it doesn't matter what 'Eklund' or anyone else writes (hello Jack Todd) that infers that Price will or should be traded, as it is more than evident that Bob Gainey correctly views Price as a future franchise-type player (i.e. equivalent value to his team as Luongo, Ovechkin, Iginla, Malkin, et.al. are to theirs) over the long run.

While it is true that Price's performance in the 2nd half of last season was relatively poor, and his stats after his 6 games played this season are not pretty - we who have observed this team's games KNOW (as Bob Gainey obviously knows) that there have been MANY contributing factors (I can detail them here, but I think you all know what they are), NONE of which include Carey Price's skills or abilities.

p.s. There are only a small number of goalies historically who have performed at an 'all-star' caliber at 22 years old (e.g. P.Roy) - The majority who were starters in the NHL from 20 to 22 yrs old were not already stars in the NHL. Case in point: compare Price's record with Luongo's record for his seasons spanning 20-22 years old:

Price @ 20 - 2007-08 Montreal Canadiens - 41 GP / 24W-12L / 2.56 gaa / .920 sp / 3 so /
Price @ 21 - 2008-09 Montreal Canadiens - 52 GP / 23W-16L / 2.83 gaa / .905 sp / 1 so /
Price @ 22 - 2009-10 Montreal Canadiens - 6 GP / 2W-4L / 3.36 gaa / .886 sp / 0 so /

Luongo @ 20 - 1999-00 New York Islanders - 24 GP / 7W-14L / 3.25 gaa / .904 sp / 1 so /
Luongo @ 21 - 2000-01 Florida Panthers - 47 GP / 12W-24L / 2.44 gaa / .920 sp / 5 so /
Luongo @ 22 - 2001-02 Florida Panthers - 58 GP / 16W-33L / 2.77 gaa / .915 sp / 4 so /

He lost his starting job last year to Hillier, he has a NTC and fat salary...not to mention the injuries every year as well. Plus his son gets special treatment in LA so he wouldn't leave that area for that reason alone in regards to healthcare.

Why do you even waste your time to compare Carey Price to some no-namer who never won anything?

This why I can't understand why fans are so inpatient and want to get rid of a kid that is on the same successful road for a star like career as Luongo.

Luongo did well, if he was in Montreal at the same age would the fans been all over him too...or would it be different because he is the "Hometown" boy?

I think I would rather have 10-15 years of Price having the same career as Luongo, than having Luongo come here for the tailend of his while Price's takes off.
