Yan doesn't have to clear waivers as he's the Blues have 11 forwards, so his recall is considered an emergency recall. He can come up, play, and go back down without waivers!

HA!

I've heard conflicting reports. According to Rutherford, Stastny does still have to clear waivers.

Even though the Blues are in an emergency situation (below 12 healthy forwards), a player must still clear re-entry waivers.

see the Ron Hainsey example from 2005-06...Montreal lost Hainsey on re-entry waivers and had to make another recall to have enough dmen to dress (Markov was suspended, Komisarek was hurt, and IIRC, Souray was injured, too)...Jean-Philippe Cote was recalled after Hainsey was claimed on re-entry by Columbus

I hope the Avs pick him up. It would be nice to see him play on the same team as Paul. It might help bring his game up a bit playing with his little brother.

Eminian probably could've written his piece a little more clearly but he's referring to Yan not having to go through waivers on the way back down to Peoria not re-entry waivers on the way up. Normally, players have to go through waivers again if they are sent down but have been on the NHL roster for either 10 games or 30 games (whichever comes first) but in this instance, since the Blues are under 12 forwards, that clock doesn't start. For that to even come into play though, Yan still has to clear re-entry waivers.
