As long as Goligoski keeps putting up points, you really can't move him IMO. You have to think of things in terms of when Gonchar is gone, whenever that may be.

Boyes is good and would be a welcome addition, but what if he gets here and adds maybe 6-8 goals to his usual total? Wouldn't be enough for what we'd give up.

How about Pens just keep a puck moving dman, with a stay at homer on all pairings and call it a night?

The Blues can't trade Boyes unless they get a scorer back or significantly upgrade somewhere else. We have a lot of good, young players, but until one of them steps up and proves they can be a consistent 30+ goal scorer, Boyes will stay with the team. Why don't we want Orpik? Sure, he's a good defenseman, but he doesn't significantly upgrade our defense. Besides, defense is becoming a crowded spot on the Blues. Brewer isn't a UFA until 2011, Jackman 2012, and then we have Johnson, Pietrangelo, Polak, Cole (who will probably be with the team next year), Junland (who has 10 points in 8 games in the AHL and was an all-star last season), and Rundblad further down the pipeline. Colaiacovo will be a UFA after this season, and we might not even bring him back because we don't have the room. Then we also have either on the team or in the system: Sydor, Weaver, Strachan, Wagner. All of them provide depth for a bottom pairing or pressbox role.

We are not trading Boyes unless someone sweeps us off our feet. Your proposal does not do that. Therefore, no deal. You can keep telling us how great Orpik, Kennedy, etc. are, but we won't take them. Deal with it. If you want Boyes, you are going to have to pay.

For a team that is 10 - 2 and quite possibly the best team in the NHL there is a lot of folks on here trying to "impove" the Penguins wingers. At least 6 different proposals on the main page here. Seems to me they are doing pretty well with what they have currently so maybe the old adage of "if it aint broke, don't fix it" rings true here.

Cheers

Calm down, Pleau. It's a make believe hockey proposal. However, I would argue that Brooks Orpik upgrades any teams blueline, but you think he's a bottom pairing guy, so agree to disagree on that one.
