Gaborik participated in the Rangersí optional morning skate, his first time on the ice since he got hurt in front of the Coyotesí net in the third period of Mondayís 5-2 win. Even so, Gaborik didnít sound so sure afterwards when he would skate next or, more importantly, play next.

ďIt is disappointing but I canít do anything about it,Ē Gaborik said of not being able to play in his return to Minnesota, where he spent his first eight NHL seasons with the Wild. ďIím trying to push myself to have a good feel but itís not there. I donít think I would b e a piece to the puzzle (tonight).

ďI think Iím on the right track,Ē Gaborik said, before being asked whether heíd skate tomorrow - the Rangers play the Bruins Sunday afternoon at Madison Square Garden. ďI donít know. I need to do a lot of treatment.Ē

Agreed. Just gotta hope it's not a long-term injury.

Gaborik is cleared to play tonight but opted out. He needs to be 100% or he won't play. Some rumblings of softness are starting to surface.

The Wild and their fans were fired up about his return to St Paul and he still chooses not to play.

I don't think it's really anything serious. He's skating, which is a good sign. At most I think he's learned his lesson with trying to play through injuries and the coaching staff and trainers do not want him to risk anything.

I could give a rat's ass about the Wild's fans. We need our #1 star to sit out a meaningless early season game vs a western conference team so we can get the most out of him.

Any streams for this one? Listening to that Isles game was like torture...maybe less than watching it though.

We need Prospal and Dubi to step up tonight, show some of that first line talent. Also, a goal or two from MDZ is in order.

What cable company advertises that every Knicks/Rangers/etc. etc. game is broadcast in HD? Obviously it's not TWC. Knicks are on the road as well but they get the HD feed? How many will they lose by tonight...30?

Who cleared Gaborik to play? When did this happen?

What rumblings?

Agreed. I'd prefer him to sit out and rest until he's a 100 percent then play a game against a team out of the conference in October. No reason for him to risk further injury.

Explain.

It's October. Game #13.

I love people who make statements and then don't explain what they mean.

While we're waiting for the rangers to start, the wolf park are playing.

It's not about caring about what Wild fans think or want. It's that if there was any reason that Gaborik would play would be tonight.

He's not coming back at 99%. He'll be back when he's good and ready. Ok its October. I am with you. Go ahead and sit. But don't be angry when we are playing this game in April.

It really is amazing how worried people are about an injury that gaborik has that is totally unrelated to his groin. Especially when it has been said numerous times that it is a minor injury. People calm the **** down. If Gaborik isn't playing in a week, then there is reason to START worrying. But do people really think the coaching staff is lying to the fan base and its actually like an ACL tear or something? Come on. Its probably a bruised leg. Gabs will be healthy in a couple days.

I garuntee you if were in april right now and we were playing a must win game, gaborik would be playing. If this was any other player on the rangers no one would be up at arms here.

Dane Byers isn't at the Arena yet. Travel/weather issue. According to Giannone on MSG2.
