Wow. That's a sweet goal from Erixon. Can't wait to see him play at the WJ's.

Nemisz with a goal and an assist tonight in the Spitfires 5-4 (OT) win at Belleville. Brodie with two helpers as well.

Very rough translation:

"I just had to round the net and then skate as fast as I could. Well, I guess those were my thoughts."

That's the jist of it. Difficult to translate "skala målburen" though.

Nice quote by Erixon in the local paper today:

"Q: When did you decide to score?
A: As soon as I got the puck."

"Peel the cage", but I've only heard Net or Crease from Americans.

Some strong starts to the season from quite a few of our prospects.

Brodie-10 points in 7 games
Nemisz-14 points in 8 games
Howse-8 points in 6 games
Bennett-4 points in 6 games
Patterson-3 points in 6 games
Wahl-6 points in 5 games
Bouma-7 points in 8 games

Good to see. Nemisz has really had a solid start to the season. Hopefully he is making a good case for the WJ team. Brodie continues to impress and maybe he can force his way onto the WJ team as well.

Erixon has stepped up big time in his own zone this season. He's a lot stronger along the boards and doesn't get pushed around as much as he did last season. IMO he's been our (skellefteå's) best defenseman on the BP, clearing pucks and block shots.
You can tell he's put on atleast 10-12 pounds this off-season.

Hey from Spokane! Mitch Wahl and the Chiefs had two games this weekend and won both of them. Fri 5-2 vs Prince Albert Raiders and Sat 4-1 vs Seattle Thunderbirds.

Wahl has 1A on Fri and 1A and +2on Sat.

To date: 7GP 2G 6A +4 5PIM

Wahl has been playing consistant two way hockey and is looking good. He's been playin on the first and second lines and consistantly on the PP and PK. Wahl has been a blast to watch.

More later.

Sounds like he's having a good season so far. Good news.

Thanks for the update.

Ryan Howse is also having himself a good year.

So far this year with the Chilliwack Bruins: 8GP, 8G, 4A, 12PTS, +8.

Who has Wahl mainly been playing with? Does he play with Beach at all?

Thanks for the updates. Keep them up!

I was really happy about this pick. He has a great shot, and is quick as hell. Pair that with not being afraid of the chippier parts of the game, i think he will end up being a steal in the 3rd round.

I wonder if Howse has learned to play the defensive side of the game as well, or is he just outscoring his minuses.

Saw TJ Brodie against the Petes tonight.

Brodie was absolutely electric offensively tonight. He got better and better as the game went on too. His skating ability is so good from the back end, just an explosive player. On one occasion he picked the puck up at the blueline and went by three Petes players to the net in what seemed like a split second. It was a loose puck that he picked up near the boards and then accelerated to the front of the net, but only got a weak shot off. Had a few other nice rushes tonight too. His assist to Jordan Szwarz was a thing of beauty; a slap pass right to Jordan Szwarz at the side of the net for the easy tap in. Completely fooled the Petes defense and Jason Missiaen. On the downside, he was careless with the puck on a few occasions. Made poor reads in trying to rush up ice and skated into traffic giving the puck up. He definitely needs to pick his spots better. He also looked lazy at times in the defensive zone. While he can be a solid positional defender, he looked really lazy on Adrian Robertson's second period goal. He failed to tie up Robertson as he went hard to the net, leaving him with a redirect on a cross ice pass. If he fails to tie up forwards like that in the NHL, he'll be eaten alive. A ton of talent here though and I think a serious candidate for the Canadian WJC team.

Awesome. Thanks for the report Brock.

I really like Brodie and it'll be interesting to see if he can make Team Canada. Great start to the season so far. Hope he can keep it up.

to outscore his minuses his line would have to be scoring non-atop to be +8 so far... he only has 12 points and i think its fair to assume a bunch are on the PP too

Bouma makes Subway Series (WHL v.s russians) but no Howse, even though he is 9th in the league in goals, and putting up over a point per game. Bouma brings a lot of intangibles to the table though, 44 PM in 17 games, plus he is Vancouvers captain. He is in for one of the two games on November 25th in Victoria

Nemisz is having a great start to the season so far. Currently on pace to break 100 ponits - something we haven't had one of our prospects do since Lombardi put up 130 in 2001-02.

Greg Nemisz and T.J. Brodie will also be playing in the series later this month. Games will be on sportsnet so a good opportunity to watch 3 flames prospects later this month.

Saw Nemisz again against the Soo last night.

Had a very strong game despite not notching any points. In the first period, he had several quality scoring chances. I think his speed has really improved, and he's using his size more to take the puck to the net, rather than being satisfied with being a complimentary offensive player. I don't think he'll ever been a power forward at the NHL level, because he doesn't really hit people or use his size in that way, but as an offensive forward with size and soft hands, he still has a great future ahead of him. If not for a few nice saves from Bryce O'Hagan, Nemisz would have definitely hit the score sheet.

Flames prospect TJ Brodie has been traded as part of a package to Barrie. He's having a good season with 23 points in 20 games with a +3. Hope he can help Barrie become a competitive team in the OHL.

Saw Brodie against Sudbury tonight.

This was Brodie's first game with Barrie and he was very strong. Interestingly enough, Brodie wasn't really involved offensively tonight like his partner Nick Crawford was. But he was solid defensively. Was never beat to the net, was winning battles in the corners. Did a good job on coverage. I even saw him rub out an opposing forward along the boards. That physical play is something you don't see enough of from Brodie. If he can put forth the defensive effort he did tonight...consistently for Barrie...it won't be long before more than just OHL and Calgary Flames fans know who this guy is. Like Crawford, he finished +3.
