Size Matters

Just wondering if anyone knew the name of that really tall european the Habs signed a while ago, i can't remember anything about him other than they were saying he might be the Habs next enforcer-type guy. Also what are the odds of Dan Focht playing that role for the Habs whenever the season starts?

I'd say you're thinking of Raitis Ivanans, he's like 6'5 250 or something.

As for Focht, I think he's a capable 7th defenseman, but I wouldn't really feel to confident with him manning the blueline. Unless there are some injuries of course.

I can't see Ivanans in the NHL except for an occasional game when a heavyweight is needed.

Hainsey, Dykhuis and Focht are all capable injury fills, but not top 6 at this point. Focht might make his living as a career #8, replacing Beauchemin for us on the depth chart (but older).

The buzz is once the habs start playing hockey again, Dan Focht will be signing a two way contract with the habs. Has the potential to be a decent 7th d-man. I mean he was top six in Pittsburgh, but then again........

focht will be signed to a two way contract once the nhl resumes play altho i would be surprised if he ever left hamilton. as much as everyone hates hainsey, hes gonna get his chance. either way, it would be a nice depth move. doesnt hurt us.

Hainsey's on a 1 way contract when the NHL starts up, so yeah, he will get his chance over the next two years.

Focht and Dykhuis round out the list, though the Habs might move or buy out Karl.

On the bright side, Focht and newly returned J-P Cote were a +3 on Saturday! MAybe Cote's return will solidify the team from the back end forward?
