Rangers trying to move Chris Higgins

Ottawa Sun Bruce Garrioch

Quote:
The Rangers are trying to move W Christopher Higgins. Talk about a flop on Broadway. Higgins, who has just two assists in 13 games this season, was the key player New York got back from the Canadiens for C Scott Gomez.
http://www.ottawasun.com/sports/colu.../11592441.html

The key player was Marian Gaborik.

I could see it being true, but it's a matter of who would want him?

LOL no way is this even remotely true.

No way Slats admits defeat on this one after 13 games.

No sense in trading him when his value is so damn low

Seems like Garrioch is stating the obvious: "Rangers trying to trade a struggling player!"

The problem is, can't imagine any team trading for Higgins with the way he's been playing. He's stuck on the Rangers for the time being.

We gave up on Dupuis after 6 games

Which we could have added a little more and picked up Plekanec instead.

This is pretty much the worst moment to move him. His value must be at an all-time low, and I really can't imagine the return would be of any use. Might as well hang on to him and hope he improves a bit, so he has some value at the deadline.

he doesnt have to admit defeat, the trade made the Gaborik signing possible and gave us a huge boost to our system with the addition of Macdonaugh and to a lesser extent Valentenko

They should be "trying" to move contracts that don't come off the books at seasons end. Not the ones that do. What on earth is the point of moving an expiring contract that has no value to bring something of substance back?

Besides, his play can only get better at this point.

Yeah, I don't believe this for a minute. Garrioch is a hack.

Well, moving Higgins' 2.25 mil frees up room to make another move later in the season. I agree that his value sucks right now and I would rather see a Roszival out the door, but there is still some value in moving a contract that expires at the end of the season.

Why can't people see it being true? Just because Sather may be shopping him? We're not talking about potential teams nor any kind of return. He's just saying that Sather is shopping him. Sather could be shopping just about anyone every day of the week.

If they can find a fellow UFA then it's pretty tempting to make a move..........Frolov is the obvious ..............I am sure he's not a UFA but what about trying to get Meuller from Phoenix, he is struggling too , young and talented

Frolov's not exactly struggling, he still has 4 G's and 8 A's last time I checked.

Not sure if the Rangers are actively shopping him, but I wouldn't be surprised if they're willing to move him in the right deal

I can't stand him, never have been able to stand him.

Perimeter floater... I mean he do have some strong abilitys, but I don't at all like how he play. He plays the style of like a Jaromir Jagr, but is half as talented. Guys like that mostly hurt their team.

I hope we can move Higgins. He is just not fitting in. And we need someone who can be a much stronger player, and especially take more responsibility.

Like in the last 40 minutes tonight we had 12 shots on goal -- and at least 4-5 of them we dump ins put on the net... We need someone who can go deep and skate the puck up ice. Someone who is strong in all areas of the game. It don't have to be someone who will score 60-70 pts -- but someone who can skate and handle the puck.

Higgins were completely invisible again tonight...
