The Olympics could be a good thing. I mean, by the time he gets healthy, he'd be off the ice for a very long time. In fact, he hasn't played in many games since last April. Olympics can be his training camp back to game shape.

I see this point of view also... As far as I'm concerned, Markov already feels bad for missing the start of the season. So I don't expect him to play anywhere unless he is assured by the Montreal medical staff that he is ok to play.

Any news on Sergei's injury? I noticed that he didn't play again.
Just a side note, i find it funny that team is winning again and that huge thread on Sergei seems to have disappeared

I don't see how he can aggravate that type of injury, unless he suffers another cut in the same spot ? By that time, it should be practically healed and he'll have trouble re-adjusting to the speed, so it should just hurt Team Russia.

I would imagine there,s a chance albeit an extremely small chance he stresses the tendon causing it to snap since it might not be fully healed...
Kind of Scary... like price coming back to early last year to play in the stupid all star game.

but yes, if it's not healed properly it can be torn where it was cut the first time. he wouldn't have to get cut in the same spot again to agravate it.

if that was the case he could play right now and they would just have to give him something for the pain.

How deep does a stupid cut have to be to miss 4 months of hockey?

Depends if it's flesh or tendons.

It's long because he cut more than just skin. Also, when you're putting around 5 million dollars on one player, you better hope that he doesn't aggravate the injury the second he steps on the ice.
I'm happy that we've forgotten about O'Byrne though. I mean, his absence hasn't left the team with a hole that we're complaining about, so when he returns, it's like he's a surplus, and a good one at that.
People don't realize it's the end of november. We might be as close as two weeks and a bit to seeing him again.

Also, I think I'l wait a few months to see if I favor Markov playing in the Olympics. I hope it turns out he plays maybe two or three games before the break, plays good, uses Russia's deep Medal run as his rehab (who cares it's Russia!) and he's going to have the equivalent of two weeks of unpaid, no outcome for the team training, against some teams which will be even better than who he usually faces.
As for the new flu victims, I hope Gomez and Metro stay out as long as they have to, because the last thing the team needs is a clubhouse infection.

NOTES: A couple of other Bulldogs who have been out for a while are getting close to returning to the lineup as well. Defenceman Alex Henry, who broke a bone in his hand in preseason, is skating and could be back in 7-10 days. David Desharnais, who broke a bone in his foot, might also be back in a week. Eric Neilson (back spasms) is day to day.

I thought they said he would be gone for two months so it should be four more weeks.

Both Alex Henry and David Desharnais might be in the lineup this upcoming weekend.

Guess Anderson, St-Denis, Busto, Conboy, Neilson, and Lacroix, are going to have to fight for ice time once these two return, unless Kostitsyn leaves.

Possible? VERY

Thing is, he could probably be skating just now..

The tendon in the front of the foot is not really used for skating (how often do you need to lift the front of your foot? You usually push more than pull..), so under normal conditions, there should be no problem.

But this is hockey... A puck in the wrong place, a crack in the ice or a bad check is all it could take to break the tendon again ..

If Markov can make it for the Olympics, that will be good, that way he should be slightly less rusty once the NHL Starts over again.
