Henrik Larsson is a legend of the game. But he's just retired.

I couldn't watch the game, but I found it interesting when I watched the highlights. The best saves from Henrik this game didn't even look that difficult. Then I've seen other games when he has about 10 saves more difficult than any of today's save (assuming the highlights showed the best one) and another 3 that go in. Seems they played a really good game defensively today.

I chose watching the game In HD with the Bruins announcers. What a mistake that was! They aggravated me so much I couldn't enjoy the win. Don't they know the game is being shown outside of Boston? Cally gets boarded and when they show the replay you could hear crickets because the hacks couldn't admit it was worse then Avery's. I will watch in black and white or listen on radio rather than subject myself to that ever again! OK I feel better now.

after watching the replay on the Gaborik goal I can only shake my head. Gaborik did an absolutely incredible job in getting open for that shot. He was skating up the middle with a player on him and he just stopped short to buy himself a second or 2 and prospal did an amazing job to see it. Great play all around.

Saw the game yesterday and must say that this was probably the best defensive effort by a team this year. Great job and with Hank in the goal the shutout was logical.

/Cheers

But it looked so smooth and simple that I'm almost sure they were practising it. They had excellent timing and both the assist and the goal were absolutely accurate.

Not sure if it was something they practiced as much as a move that a goal scorer makes to get room for himself, and another good player found him with a pass.

It's simple as all hell, but guys who aren't goal scorers don't find little ways like that to get open

We are better than we should be, with our limited population and harsh climate for playing summer sports. We have Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Barcelona) and our national team consists of pros in other leagues in Europe, but the team is still pretty average on paper. The team has always performed better than on paper though, very organized and hard to beat (the usual result is a draw). Our own national football league is complete garbage though.

Late to the party here, but I wanted to reiterate a point here, I think Torts should have started Vally this game, Boston had key guys out, usually our games with them are low scoring(as it turned out to be) and simply you rest Henrik for this trip. If I see Vally in net and get lit up I'm going ape ****, flashback to our last game at Vancouver when we lost 4-0.

If you wanted Vally in net then we would have likely lost yesterday. I highly doubt he would have pitched a shutout like Lundqvist did.

The truth. I was raving to my casual hockey fan friend about that play right after it happened. Not going straight to the net there was far more impressive than the shot itself, which was awesome. Plays like that illustrate how the "elite" players in the game think on a different level. The physical differences between players are not that significant.

Are you really complaining about a shutout against a conference opponent?

Particularly against a team that may well be in the same pack of teams with us that are chasing the 6, 7, and 8 seeds.

Lundqvist HAD to start.

i thought the bruins announcers were ok. it's only natural they'd root for their team. and they gave the rangers a lot of props. particularly early in the game.

Did I complain? No, I stated before the game I thought Valiquette should have started to rest Lundqvist for the 3 game trip because imo (which it seems to you is crap) Lundqvist should start all 3 games on the trip.

So why would you rest Hank against a conference opponent? Doesn't make more sense to give yourself the best chance to win against a conference opponent and give him a rest against a Western conference team (assuming he needs one)?

My thoughts on this are as follows, it's a 1pm game with a dead crowd(I don't wanna hear it the place was dead), a Boston team missing key guys, a low scoring game, start the backup. The next 3 games will have a more lively atmosphere, and you want your best starting in net for those games.
