C'mon guys, get serious. Phoenix is dealing from strength now. They are not going to move a young asset (Mueller) or cheap sandpaper (Upshall) for a soon to be UFA.

Maloney is way too smart for this kind of stuff. And in case you haven't noticed, he's a much better trading GM than a drafting GM. Much like his former boss.

I would love him on L.A's checking line. Although if I was a Rangers fan I would welcome the cap relief and jump on a bigger name player at the deadline.

I couldn't figure that out, either. I don't think I've ever heard an NHL commentator say that and then say it over and over again.

R2 hasn't been working out for us either so I'm sure the Ducks would be interested in that. Although a finisher he is not. Higgins does have more potential so the Ducks might have to add a pick to even it out.

I'm a bit surprised Higgins hasn't worked out so far, i thought he'd be a guy who'd flourish under a coach like Tortorella who knows how to use fast, hardworking wingers.

Right about now Gomez would have looked good with Prospal and Gabby, where as Drury = Blair Betts...by the way Higgins is lost, he does nothing every game, I don't think he could score into an empty net from the crease...

I can't help but laugh and cry.

Laugh because Ranger fans were going nuts at how good a deal their GM made to unload Gomez (I guess in that sense he did but many people were going nuts over the return) and cry because Chris isn't getting it together.

The deal is still a good deal. Higgins play really won't affect that.

Yeah, without that deal we don't get Gaborik. He's been kind of a big deal for us...

that deal netted us gaborik. from that angle, its a victory. period.

would i love gomez playing along side gaby? yes. was that possible. no.

is higgins any good so far ? no.

to me it seems like a bit of bait and switch so far. higgy was advertised as a solid 2 way 25 goal type and so far, hes a 2 million dollar blair betts.

in the end, im afraid, higgins will end up back in montreal next fall and then it will be mcdonogh for gomez. im still ok with that as long as gaborik stays healthy.

I, among many others, cheered because we were relieved from cap hell and had the money to get a good player (which turned out to be Gaborik). The deal was essentially giving Gomez away. Higgins was just a bonus (so was McDonaugh), albeit he hasn't been that much of a bonus yet. Can you imagine this team being lead by Gomez and Drury this season, without Gaborik? Oh the horror...

Yeah, don't see how anyone could complain about the return even if it was Gomez for a few pucks. It would have been sweeter if Drury was the guy shipped out...but that would really have been a jackpot.

Agreed, as long as Gabby is healty at least.

But one can certainly be dissapointed in the fact that Higg haven't been better. I mean, I at least had hopes that he could be a big contributor for us. Like someone who always were moving his feet and crashing the net.

Yeah picture last season.Gaborik has changed the way we look at the team this year and now believe we can win almost every game.If you recall the last week was a look at last years team without Gabby.

Gaborik+Higgins+Mcdonagh> Gomez

We could trade Higgins for cash and it would still be a win.

I don't understand why this is even still being discussed.

Higgins value is pathetically low. He can only go up.

Not to mention Garrioch is as much of a fraud as his hockeybuzz buddy Dwayne eklund Klessel.

I can't remember one Garrioch rumor thats right, or even makes sense.

Consider the source of this, and than realize its complete horse ****.

Higgins will be a Ranger at least till the trade deadline.

The great Peter Mueller was healthy scratch in Phoenix last night. Yotes are going with vets this season. I have consulted "the experts" they say Derek Stepan and a second rounder could get him here.

I don't want to be one of those fans that brings players that have no chance at being a Ranger again in to the discussion...but this lineup would be so much better with Zherdev...and the fact that many were saying Lisin and Higgins were both or at least one of them supposed to pan out and make us forget about Z is really the only reason I say his name. He'd be a lot better on the 2nd line than anyone else so far.

It's important to put some perspective on things; It may not be the best comparison because Mueller has much more experience, but if Anisimov was a healthy scratch, or Callahan or Dubinsky, I still wouldn't expect us to trade any one of them. Just because Mueller isn't part of their immediate plans doesn't mean he's on his way out.

yeah, no thanks. Higgins and a 2nd I'd do. D-step and a 4th or 5th would be fair but isn't the whole point to trade Higgins? BTW, Higgins is gonna play on the first line with Prospal and Gabo according to Zip. http://www.newsday.com/blogs/sports/blue-notes-1.811976 did anyone post that yet? Hope he busts his slump flood gates open and we either get a good year from him or he just raises his stock for an opportunistic trade come deadline day
