We have too many top six RWs, same problem as last year. Brown, Simmonds, Purcell, and Williams are all top six-esque right wingers. I have no problem with the current lines. Purcell adds more offensive pressure to the fourth line. We don't NEED a prototypical fourth line that runs around and hits and fights and causes mayhem. Rolling four lines that can score is not a bad thing. At all.

I do like the Frolov-Handzus-Brown line. They have been good.
Parse has some chemistry with Purcell i think, but i think Simmonds should fit well there.

*IN THEORY* Purcell adds more offensive pressure. . .
*IN REALITY* He won't do anything besides not finish his checks. . .

The fourth line has done nothing. A combined 43 man games, -13, 1 assist. Outstanding! Really good teams, teams that go far in the playoffs, roll four lines that score and do the other things. So far the only thing our fourth line does is get scored upon.

The 3 forwards are not the primary cause of goals against. There are two defensemen and a goaltender as well when that 4th line steps out there. Depth and talent on your 4 through 6 defensemen is just as important, if not more so. With that said, the 4th line lacks any identity. Is it a checking 4th line? An energy line? A balanced line? Ivanans is a no talent fighter. Richardson is a speedy center who works hard but doesn't have a terribly impressive shot nor passing skill. Whomever is going to play RW will only confuse that identity. Purcell is not a 4th line guy, unless he and Richardson somehow develop a Stoll-Parse like chemistry all of a sudden.

Purcell is going the way of Boyle. Man, I had high hopes for both of the them. Bust!

we should just split up the best 8 forwards on all lines and use the best ones on two lines like i do on my NHL 10 version of the kings.

Should be this:
Smyth-Kopitar-Williams
Frolov-Handzus-Brown
Parse-Stoll-Simmonds

Ivanans-Richardson-Purcell

I switched the Stoll line with the Handzus line..
What about D-Pairings?

Purcell is on the 4th line, Moulson is on the top line on Long Island and Boyle is on the 4th line on the Rangers...Two seasons ago these guys were supposed to battle for our top 6...hmmm.

Murray should submit the following roster for Monday's game:

Ivanans - Richardson - Purcell
Parse - Stoll- Simmonds
Frolov - Handzus - Brown
Smyth- Kopitar - Williams

Haha. If only fans understood that coaches don't set an order of lines as 1-2-3-4 like the fans do at home with their copy of NHL 10.

...and he gets to play fourth line minutes. He wont shine as a King and he'll be lucky to live up to his AHL ROTY hype. He has let Simmonds and now Parse take his spot. Not looking good for his career.

Actually, Stoll's last game was pretty weak. Parse and Purcell carried that line. And of the two Purcell was better.

But did you SEE the last game? That's all he's asking. Purcell was one of (if not the) best players on the ice.

If he does that every night (and I know that's been his knock) he's far more important to this team than Parse or Simmonds.

Boyle had some great games as a King as well. That is just it, these guys are skilled players who need time to develop on top lines. When given the time they don't produce consistently. The don't belong on the fourth line where they end up because all the spots have been taken. Believe me I have argued the value of Purcell to many fans and I want to see him succeed, but his days of being able to do it in LA appear to be numbered. It won't get any easier next year with Schenn, Lokti, Clune, and Clifford competing for spots.

Its going to be a numbers game X 2. (Not a bad problem to have, really)

Too many forwards competing for limited number of rosters spots; and

If you're not putting up the numbers, your spot will go the guy who can.
