Erik Christensen is on waivers. Could be a good depth pickup too..

I'd take him before Pettinger frankly.

I would say so, I think he will be snapped up by someone else before us though.

Pettinger > Glass, Hordichuk, Bolduc, Desbiens, Bliznak

Good signing, I liked Pettinger when he played for us last time.

Christensen is awesome at shootouts, but he's not really good at anything else.

I believe he used to be a good faceoff guy but he is 28% this season thusfar. 54 goals one year in junior too, could be a decent project. Western Boy!

The Canucks are losing players while our boards are losing mods. First parabola and now Hedberg...

I believe that's rule is a biproduct of playing in another international pro league prior to signing on with the NHL. Lemieux played with the China Sharks last year 1st.

Go back two years, and Forsberg didn't need to clear waivers to join the Avalanche at the deadline. If that rule was in place for any mid-season signings, there's no way in hell he would have cleared.

Good move; NHL calibre player to put in the bottom-six ranks, certainly helps, and he did play in the NHL last year(albeit with Tampa) but nonetheless. Can skate well, plays gritty, and chip in the occasional bit of offense. Seems like a good depth pickup.

The Ducks gave him chances to play with Getzlaf and Perry last season and he did nothing.

Yeah, completely forgot about the Forsberg thing. Waiver system is just confusing...the whole CBA is in fact. And to think I was almost tempted to read it over the summer...

Canucks are desperate, and he has solid NHL experience. I imagine it is a two way contract, so he's basically in the same situation except for that the Canucks can now call him up for injury replacements.

Cool, Pettinger made Morrison look useful in his final days in Canucks uniform.

Speaking of which, Mo's doing great in Washington right now (well, back to his usually offensive production level anyways). Nice to see.

Hence why he is put on waivers. You don't put a player on waivers who is contributing but a change of scenery may help. He wouldn't even get to us anyways, someone will pick him up below us.

Because as a veteran player the impact he can bring over a younger waiver-eligible player is minimal. There's lots of guys like Pettinger who are capable of playing a bottom six role in the NHL but nowhere to play because teams have their roster spots filled and have younger players on the farm. At least until you get into a situation like the Canucks where you have so many injuries that even your farm depth gets depleted.
