We're better off waiting for AK46 to get his act together. With the cap the way it is, there's no way the Habs are going to go out and get quality. Plus there's next year. I don't want to lose Plekanec because we made a band-aid trade now. They can make the playoffs with the team they have. I think that goal is adequate for now. Just get in and then see what happens in the playoffs.

Give Lats a ten game trial with Plek and AK46.

Moen-Metro-Laps on the the third would be nice.

How about Ponikarovsky?

Some might say he is a borderline top 6 guy, I would probably agree on some nights he is not there 100% (its seems cliche to say, but aren't most Russian/Ukraine/Belorussian players like this?). However on the positive side of the spectrum, he skates relatively well for a player his size (6'4"-6'5") and 220-225lbs. He can throw some nice hits from time to time. He goes to the net and creates traffic better then anyone we have on our team. He has an above average release, as well.

I think in terms of sheer value-to-performance, he would be a solid addition to our team. Especially that he would/could create room for Gomez/Gionta/Cammalleri/Plekanec, on either line, he is the big guy and can clean up some room for them. His value is something in the Antropov range last year at the deadline (a 2nd), maybe we could throw in a mid-range prospect to sweeten the deal.

edit: To those saying we should hold off until Andrei begins clicking.. I disagree.. Not because I think Andrei needs to be traded, on the contrary we should hold off and see if he gets going.. I disagree because even if he does get going, D'Agostini, Pacioretty and Latendresse have not been consistent enough in the role. Plus if Andrei doesn't get rolling, we'll be in big trouble because we'll be down 2 top 6 guys. Thus my Poni-Proposal.

No way this would happen. He's on pace for a career year in goals, and it's an intra-divisional trade. Burke and Gainey could never make this work.

The top 6 forward this team is lacking right now may very well be the baby in Hamilton. Whatever Gainey decides to fix the 2nd line, I'll be happy. I can't stand seeing Lapierre on the 2nd line. Put him back where he belongs and where he is most effective.

Scott MF Walker anyone? Is he healthy? It seems Rutherford is trying to shake things up... I am not sure if he would be a good fit on our top 2 lines but I would like him on the team. He would be great against the toughest teams. I'd love to read the B's board if that happened...

I pretty much agree with you. Lapierre isn't just a 4th liner ; he can play good on a 3rd line, but he ain't no top6 material. AK is playing like a turd again and again, and Plekanec struggles alone too often on the second line. Nobody in Hamilton, even that S.Kost. ***** can't fix that, so Bob will probably move sooner than later if he can.

Andrei K and Mathieu Carle + ? vs Martin Erat + pick ?

Something like this..

Andrei K, 2 years left at 3,25
Martin Erat, 5 years left at 4,5

However, it would be tough on the salary cap

Erat is one of the only player I've never seen play for some reasons... I wouldn't be surprised if he did not exist at all...

Anybody ever saw the guy and can confirm he exists???? And if so, what type of player is he? Good 2-way player, good shot, speed, etc...

I thought he would blossom after signing a big contract two years ago. He has a good shot, decent two-way game and good speed. But, he is streaky. 2 years ago, he was putting a ppg after 25 games. He's the typical 2nd line player that has a lot of talent but for some reason, never put it all together. Maybe with a fellow Czech like Plekanec.. «A fresh new start»

Samuelsson is a recent FA signing in Vancouver and doing well, 2 reasons why he won't be dealt.

Exactly, it's only 15 games.

Lose. We need the size Pacioretty has. We don't need smaller guys.

I'd like to get 2 bigger tougher guys, but with some hands. At the very least, two players who create space, use their size, go to the front of the net and can dig for a puck at the net. Akost would be part of the deal for one of them.

Have Gomez - Gio -XXXX and then Cams, Pleks XXXX

TBH, even getting two more bigger guys sucks for our top 6, even if all of the other 4 are feisty.

Horton would be ideal. Plays right wing and center, has size and a scoring touch. If we can do a deal, that would be awesome. But I agree, we need two top 6 forwards because Kostitsyn isn't doing it right now. Latendresse is earning his top 2 line time right now though.

Lats - Gomez - Gionta
Camm - Plekanec - Horton
Moen - Metro - Pacioretty
Andrei - Chipchura - Lapierre

Keep switching Lats and Andrei to see if Andrei can get his scoring touch back.

It would be too much of a perfect fit for us...hoping for it to happen may be a mistake though. Unfortunately I see him preferring many other teams before considering Mtl

This too

But, he's part of the puzzle in St.Louis. They don't have any gritty talented player besides him.

Scottie Upshall Proposal?

Maybe those who have seen him play could help me out here.

He's got 4 goals and no assists this year, makes only 1.25 mill. and 1.5 next year. from what I remember of him hes a high tempo player with some grit and can put up some points with Nashville and then Philly.

But was shipped out to Phoenix for Carcillo?

Is he under achieving?....

So I guess my proposal would be for Andre Kostitsyn.

Would we need to add to that or is it over payment?

let me know what you think......
