I had the chance to see some of the Bowling Green/Michigan State game on Friday night. I don't know if anyone else did, but it was a terrific game (what part of it that I saw).
The Sigalets were unbelievable in this game. Jonathan scored two goals (but I only saw one of them). Jordan made some incredible stops in the game. The save of the game though was the awesome glove save on Jimmy Slater's penalty shot. WOW!!!! One thing I noticed about Jordan Sigalet's play in this game, compared to what I saw of him last season, is that "Siggy" (as he's affectionately known as) is playing with more confidence and isn't doing as much of the acrobatics (ala Dominick Hasek) that he was doing. He's focused, seeing the puck really well, staying square to the shooters and not committing first when challenged.
Another player I watched closely in this game (or as closely as I could), was Jonathan Matsumoto. Now I can see why this kid has some people going ga-ga over him. He possesses some great hands and is a very good skater. But the part of his game I was most impressed by was his play around the net. He doesn't seem to be afraid to stay in there and take the punishment if it means getting the goal or at the very least a shot on net. He's certainly not afraid to drive to the net either.
