MAB would get pwnd in the LNAH. Isn't that just a league of tough guys?

Anyways, Price is somewhat to blame tonight. He wasn't there when it counted. His stats prove it, and especially the last goal does as well. But I guess it was the team's loss as a whole, not just one guy.
I was pleasantly surprised with Carle, definitely better than PK would of been, and I liked how he sperated the Thrasher from the puck back in the first. also the tripping call he took was a "good" penalty, we all know how Price is on breakaways. Although he did stop that one. Kudos.

MAB makes a lot of weak plays and one of them was the 5th goal
say what you want before that, but Price had no chance there
MAB was weak on the puck, Price couldn't track it and one of the two Thrasher players standing by the goal line threw it quickly in front

I can’t believe Martin benched Moen and Metropolit for the third period, they are probably the hardest working players on the team! And they proved over and over since the beginning of the season that they can produce offensively, we would have had a better chance to score with them playing.

Everyone else.

Latendresse really used this chance to prove he belongs on the top 6. Zero shots on goal.
But he was near the crease in that chance he completely whiffed on in the first, so, free pass.

To all those *****ing about Carle, he was a +1 and wasn't on the ice for any of the five Atlanta goals.

The official ''We miss Markov'' thread

Discuss anything involved with our abysmal D here.

Waive MAB, he's terrible. Let's try Subban at this point, it can't hurt.

Those two would have trouble making a 4th line on a real contender!

You never see one of these supposed "big bodies" every get in front of the goalie and STAY there, or win a one on one battle at our blue line to get the puck out.

Combine that with a defense that gives up the puck at the slightest hint of pressure and you have a team that is easy to play against.

The icing on the cake... Bob Gainey will lose Plekanec because of his RIDICULOUS policy of not negotiating with players during the season!

Souray, Streit, Komi, Pleky and many others.... worst asset management by a GM ever!

I think you have to look in the mirror yourself and ask the question: Would Gill's presence make our defense THAT better?

We are seeing this team without Markov for what it truly has: No defense to speak of whatsoever. I could see it from game 1. We outshoot opponents, mainly thanks to our first line, and yet give up more chances than ever. I never thought I'd say this but if we tanked, I'd be ok with, I really would. This team was gutted from last season but Gainey needs to gut the D and start over. Or maybe realize his job has reached its end. It may be time for yet another rebuild, and hopefully this time it isn't half-assed.
blaming the goalie is the easy answer for idiots essentially.

this team is horrid defensively. People are too fascinated with the Halak versus Price debates to delve into the real issue of the team. Folks need to wise up and realize that both goalie are getting shelled these days.

The defense should have been the first thing overhauled. Thats where championships start and everyone knows that. Having two very young goalies should have been an obvious reason to fix the defense as well.

...but he took a penalty that led to the winning goal being scored. Sooo you decide.

I'll give him a break because it's his first game but let's be real...he wasn't very good.

Can't blame Price on this one since the D was awful, but how do you expect to win games when you allow 5 goals? Price's confidence is at the bottom right now and that's sad because it's not even his fault.

I really thought that MAB was a nice addition to this team. I expected bad D from him, but not THAT bad... we booed Brisebois for less than that.

what the "$"/!% are we supposed to do with 3 defensemen injured...

Yes, I know the defense is bad, and frankly, given the change in coaching that's exceedingly worrisome. If it's a personnel problem then it needs to be fixed right now. If it's a strategic problem it needs to be fixed right now.

I know Price made some big saves, but one goal every six shots is just not going to be good enough.

What the HELL is wrong with this team? It's got all kinds of good indicators. It's got better possession than any Habs teams in recent memory. It outshoots teams routinely. It scores PLENTY of goals 5-on-5.

But it gets beat a lot. That is not normal.

They score a lot of goals 5-on-5, and get scored even more. 4 even strength goals for each team is a freaky occurance and it's already happened to them TWICE. Their special teams are in shambles. It seems every mistake they make ends up in the net.

I used to think this was mostly a matter of luck and that it would balance out, but I'm seriously starting to think there's a grave underlying problem here -- and it needs to be fixed ASAP, because this team does too many things well to keep losing like this. This team should be better than this. In many ways it has BEEN better than this. But there's something deeply wrong and I'm not sure I can put it down to the curse of randomness anymore.

Only one goal can Carey be blamed for....All the other goals he had no chance!
If not for him he Montreal would had been out of this game after period one!

I think that everybody knows that Price wasn't weak. But still, we would have need a couple of miracles in the end, something of which he's capable of doing like we saw in the 1st and in the 2nd.

That goal was caused by Mara and Gomez going after the same guy and leaving the third forward alone in front of the net.

Could MAB have stopped the Thrasher player from getting a pass off? Probably. However, it's not his fault that there was a guy completely alone in front of the net.

in my opinion Martin deserves some heat. Each time the team gets on even terms, he puts out Carle or Bergeron and we know the result. Thats Carbo type of line management.
