edit - another thought, getting a guy like R2 allows us to banish voros to the 7th layer of hell, keep byers up fulltime AND have enough cap for a worthwhile dman. R2 makes $1.3MM less than Higgins.
Of course not. It's a terrible deal. Chris Higgins, even when he's doing nothing at all, is so much better than Marchant. And what the hell would Todd Marchant do for this team? His whopping zero points in 13 contests sure would help our anemic offensive output...

There is no way I would do this deal. With Higgins scoring last night it mite give him a spark. Unless there is sometihng else moving with them in the deal I don't see a reason to do it.

Marchant signed a two year contract as a 35 year old plus player.Second season of the contract counts next season. Just like Brashear's contract. Stay away.
If they take Rozy, Redden or Drury, its a great deal. Otherwise whats the point? Higgens isn't scoring but he cares and he's trying. He certainly hasn't been a liability.

You mean the deal is a guy with many 20 goal seasons over a shorter career, for a guy with one in his who career, is washed up and isnt even producing at his mediocre level?
