I wouldnt be opposed to moving Higgins but I would hope the return would be better that Marchant. I would honestly be okay with a pretty good pick coming back, like a 2nd '10

Todd Marchant is Todd Marchant. It requires no further analysis than that. 13th forward on any decent team.

If I am the Ducks there definitely is. It gives them a solid top-6 and Koivu and Higgins have good chemistry already together.

My Gaborik out for the season plans were

Plan A; Sign Jagr to 1 deal
Plan B; Sign Forsberg to 1 year
Plan C; Sign Ziggy Palffy
Plan D; Sign Jan Marek
Plan E; Sign Straka.

but I suppose this circumstance works too

it'd be a little disappointing to not see higgins spend at LEAST a season here after the fan fare of "LI born and raised" propaganda from the NYR media.

Plan A: Cry
Plan B: Jump off the closest bridge
Plan C: Jump off the nearest cliff
Plan D: Jump out of a plane with no parachute
Plan E: Pick a fight with a professional heavyweight

I think I like yours a bit better.

Eh, I think Lupul on the 2nd line is a much better option than Higgins, but I don't know how well he's been performing.

Lupul and Wisniewski for Higgins, Rozsival and a pick or prospect. I haven't checked, but I think the total cap hit is close, if not identical.

And yes, I know that's not a great deal for the Ducks.

I wonder if Lupul would be part of the deal. I would be really happy to get him here. He would definitely help the scoring problem and it seems like he is traded once a year anyways so it's obviously on the way.

What? He's played in every game this season, except one, so he has 15 GP.

He has 1 goal, 2 assists. He set up Del Zotto's first as well.

The difference is that Higgins is still just reaching his prime years with a few 20 goal seasons under his belt and Marchant is on the downside of his career with only one. Even if Higgins isnt playing well right now, he has a lot more potential than a 4th liner like Marchant.
