As a 4th liner, yeah. But my point is Marchant is a 4th liner. Why the downgrade in Age, contract and ability?

I wouldnt be opposed to moving Higgins but I would hope the return would be better that Marchant. I would honestly be okay with a pretty good pick coming back, like a 2nd '10

Todd Marchant is Todd Marchant. It requires no further analysis than that. 13th forward on any decent team.

Honestly....we can't get something better than Todd Marchant for someone like Higgins? I know Higgs is struggling but really?

They weren't. My point is if they aren't taking one of those contracts off our hands, there is no reason to do this deal.

If I am the Ducks there definitely is. It gives them a solid top-6 and Koivu and Higgins have good chemistry already together.

Perry-Getzlaf-Ryan
Higgins-Koivu-Selanne

Thats a pretty good top-6 if Higgins can Koivu play like they have together.

If dumping Gomer can get you Gabby, dumping Higgy should get them Forsberg...

I know I know.....but this team is mediocre..and Grachev is staying down so why not take shot at Forsberg, if its true he's good to go, for a one year deal

low risk high reward

My Gaborik out for the season plans were

Plan A; Sign Jagr to 1 deal
Plan B; Sign Forsberg to 1 year
Plan C; Sign Ziggy Palffy
Plan D; Sign Jan Marek
Plan E; Sign Straka.

but I suppose this circumstance works too

it'd be a little disappointing to not see higgins spend at LEAST a season here after the fan fare of "LI born and raised" propaganda from the NYR media.

Interesting, mine were:

Plan A: Cry
Plan B: Jump off the closest bridge
Plan C: Jump off the nearest cliff
Plan D: Jump out of a plane with no parachute
Plan E: Pick a fight with a professional heavyweight

I think I like yours a bit better.

Eh, I think Lupul on the 2nd line is a much better option than Higgins, but I don't know how well he's been performing.

Lupul and Wisniewski for Higgins, Rozsival and a pick or prospect. I haven't checked, but I think the total cap hit is close, if not identical.

And yes, I know that's not a great deal for the Ducks.

I wonder if Lupul would be part of the deal. I would be really happy to get him here. He would definitely help the scoring problem and it seems like he is traded once a year anyways so it's obviously on the way.

as opposed to higs 1 point in 13 games......

well then, perfect linemate for capt cash

for the record, as much as i want higgy off this roster, this is not a deal that happens.

Why in gods name...

Leave the damn team as it is for now. It's too early to start second guessing everything

What? He's played in every game this season, except one, so he has 15 GP.

He has 1 goal, 2 assists. He set up Del Zotto's first as well.

The difference is that Higgins is still just reaching his prime years with a few 20 goal seasons under his belt and Marchant is on the downside of his career with only one. Even if Higgins isnt playing well right now, he has a lot more potential than a 4th liner like Marchant.

AHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA.

Let me catch my breath.

AHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHHAH.

Higgins is ABYSMAL, but STILL, TODD MARCHANT? LOL.

No way in any shape or form is this even remotely true.

He had two assists in his first 2 games, so the last 13 games he has just 1 point.

At the trade deadline the Rangers will trade Todd Marchant and then win the Cup .

No, they only need him for one game to win the Cup, like in '93-94.

Anyone remember?

That only works if you also trade Amonte, Weight and Gartner as well.
