I'm waiting for someone to claim the Flyers are trying to infect opposing teams with the flu

yes a little chemical warfare might be the edge we need
and im no doctor, but does the fact that so many of them are sick with/exposed to the flu mean that they will be less likely to get it later in the season?

And why the hell to they let players with the flu around the rest of the team. They should be quarantined until its over.
You are inoculated with the virus about 2 weeks before symptoms show.

Forget this Friday, we have a stretch where we play 10 games in 17 days coming up pretty soon. If we have people with the flu or recovering from it, its going to make for a tough second half....

Rather get it out of the way now because it is bound to happen eventually.

You can get the flu (at least the seasonal one) more than one. I know from experience from having it 5 times one season. Having said, each bout was less severe than the previous one. After that experience I always get the flu shot.

By the way, thinking out loud.

How is this an injury report? It's a disease.

Google's Definitions define an injury as "any physical damage to the body caused by violence or accident or fracture etc."

It's functionally the same to a hockey team though, and for some reason I doubt that they have a "Disease" or "Pestilence" tag.

Considering the large amounts of partying some of the players do, it may be a good idea to look into those tags. Zing!

you can only get each strain once, as long as you didn't live under a rock as a child you should have immunity to a whole crap load of variant strains. to have "the flu 5 times in one season" (i am assuming you mean flu season, Dec-April) would mean that you got a new strain once a month meaning you are either a hermit who came out of their hole, or immunodeficient. in all likelihood you were infected with the flu once and had subsequent complications which needed specific treatment.

Yes I meant flu season and I was sick on five different occasions, several weeks apart. I didn't go to the doctor each time so it may not have been the flu the subsequent times. Let's just say I was sick as a dog five times between roughly November and April

Update on Philly.com:

http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/i...lu_update.html

Quote:
Two flu-stricken Flyers returned to the ice for Thursday's practice in Voorhees, but the team will still be shorthanded for Friday's game in Buffalo against the surprising Sabres.

Five players missed practice Wednesday because of the flu. Of that group, Dan Carillo and Arron Asham returned Thursday, while defenseman Matt Carle remained in bed with the flu.

Danny Briere and Ryan Parent, each of whom were ill Wednesday, also missed yesterday’s practice, but coach John Stevens said it was because of their injuries and that they had recovered from the flu.

Parent (groin) and Briere (quad) will not play Friday. Stevens said he expects Carle _ who is off to an outstanding start _ to be in Friday's lineup.

If Carle is able to play, the Flyers will not have to use a defensive callup to play against the Sabres.

Danny Syvret, who has been practicing despite flu-like symptoms, and Ole Kristian-Tollefsen are slated to be the third defensive pairing.

With Kaleta on the other side, I'm glad Asham and Carbomb should be back.

If Carle is in bed with the flu, how can he play tomorrow? He shouldn't anyway, they have to isolate the sick guys, unless they're plain stupid.

I got a feeling we'll see OKT-Syvret as our first pairing
