Maybe he's just going there because it's the second best league in the world and wants to see how he measures up before coming back to the NHL? He might have an out-clause to come to the NHL but now this means he'll have to clear through waivers if he were to sign with an NHL team, correct?

im 85% sure however, if an 'out clause' was part of the agreement like you mentioned maybe he wouldnt. I'm assuming when he wanted out of the contract it would end making him a Free agent. Not a contracted player ala Jagr.

You could be right but I think that just because of the fact that he played in the KHL (if this whole thing is true of course) before coming here once the NHL season started, regardless of out clause or not i think he has to clear waivers. I mean wasn't that why he kept taking like week long contracts with Modo so that when the NHL season started he wouldn't need to clear waivers?

Either way should be very interesting to see if this is all true and I'd like to see how he measures up out there.

haha no way.

I can't believe it for a second.

Like 90 minutes ago he said that he wanted to play 2 more games and feel that he really can contribute before he even makes a decision to return.

Yeah right, like he signed the same night as the game with the national team, where he said he didn't really know how he felt about his contribution, that he had to play the remaining two games before even considering anything.

I don't get it... so an interview with Sather is released concerning interest in Forsberg... and less then a day later he signs in the KHL?

Something doesn't seem right.

I doubt he'd stay there throughout the entire NHL season, probably just wants to show he can compete at a higher level than the SEL.

I agree, first they kill Apollo Creed, now they sign Forsberg. If the movie Red Dawn has taught us anything, it's that you can't trust Russians.

I think that some of the people who are quick to say No to Foppa forget just exactly who it is we're talking about here.

Foppa getting a look by the Rangers is a NO BRAINER. I love the idea and hope Sather goes forward full throttle.

As long as he isn't being looked at as a first line player anymore... and the expectations are realistic. I wouldn't expect a ton of goals out of him, but still retaining his good playmaking skills.

IMO he could really help get Drury going.

Prospal - Dubinsky - Gaborik
Forsberg - Drury - Kotalik

Would be a nice top 6.

Lets keep our fingers crossed his foot is indeed capable of hockey.

Forsberg would be a VERY interesting addition to this team.

Id think he'd play PP with Gabby but would be on the 2nd line 5 on 5 taking attention away from Gabbys line.

All of a sudden the Rangers are not a one line team.
Yea. I can't wait for another Sather Special. I "hope it works out" player for millions that never works out. Beautiful.

Brooks got some exclusive quotes from Sather and his article on Forsberg seems to be right on the mark now that the ridiculous KHL rumor has been debunked.

I, for one, enjoy reading Brooks...much better than reading the generic and mundane crap about the team getting ready to play in Edmonton tonight.

The issue i have with Brooks is that he lets his personal feelings get in the way of his writing.

Most of what he writes is ranting.

Zipay and the other guys may be "boring" but at least they report what they hear and see, not what they feel.

If i am looking for news, i want news. If i want opinions, i'll come here to the boards.

When he just focuses on the facts, he is good.

Let's be honest...how many of these guys were even alive in 99? LOL. Seriously, the point is: This is a no lose situation. He's not going to demand big bucks, and as a SECONDARY scorer with 14-16 minutes of ice time, Foppa WILL produce.

Where is the false notion that he "wont cost anything" even coming from? He'll cost something...certainly more than the Rangers can afford.
