Rangers have no problem affording anything. Whether they could fit it in what they're allowed to spend is another thing.

Forsberg will be a Ranger by the end of this month, Sather has admitted publicly that he has expressed a lot interest, they're probably in contract talks right now, once the price is figured out, he'll be a Ranger.

Great news for us.

The great thing there is really, both guys can pass, and score.

And you have prospal who is a heck of a player also.

That could be a devastating top line...

so who gets moved/waived to clear cap space?
I think Voros is a candidate, but maybe even Brashear. He counts next year anyways, maybe he would agree to play in the AHL for the season until he can get healthier. I think Byers has earned a place as resident tough guy on the team, and he's only making league minimum...Forsberg is going to want a few million at least and as we stand we have less than a million in cap space, somebody's gotta go.

Soooooo who's buying the fountain of youth to make Forsberg six or seven years younger?

Maybe this is why they wanted to trade Higgins for Marchant? You save a mill.

Send a message via Yahoo to Sad London Ranger
the question is really: can a one legged Forsberg be better than Dubi for 2 years?
I think we would trade one guy for future considerations and with the 800 we have spare this could be doable.

That and Higgins wears 21 so he has to change it or go, just easier to trade him and not confuse people.

Will they be back in time for the playoffs???? As far as I'm concerned, Forsberg can practice with the team for a month, play the final 3 games of the yr and start the playoffs healthy. That's all we need him for anyway...

It's tempting fate to have injury prone Gaborik and Forsberg on the same team.

Hope this doesn't become a distraction like the Sundin debacle last year. The media reporting that Sundin is leaning towards New York and then he chooses Vancouver... oy, what a mess.

If you mean what I think you mean, I agree!

Take the risk with Forsberg. If anything, having him, Gaborik and DZ on the PP would give us probably the best PP in the league (yes, I'm serious!). We have series depth problems at center right now. Dubinsky has already fallen back to earth, and I suspect Prospal will also sooner or later. Then we have Drury who seems to bring down every line he plays on. Move him to wing once and for all already

Higgins(?) - Prospal - Gaborik
Drury - Forsberg - Kotalik
Avery - Dubinsky - Callahan
Byers - Anisimov - Lisin

I want to say that UFA's have to sign by the trading deadline to be eligible for the playoffs, but I can't find a source.

RFA's, on the other hand, have to be signed by Dec 1st to play that season.

Too much negativity in this thread

Lets see if Foppa can finish this tourney in Europe. If he looks good its a no brainer. This team as is isnt competitive enough , so why not at least try to make it better.

They'll never be able to trade for a player with as much potential as Peter Forsberg. Even at his present age he's ppg player in the NHL. Trade for that guy and its gonna sting. A UFA Forsberg would be yet ANOTHER slick move by Sather if he pulls it off. And a good one imo

Whose ice time is he robbing? No one who isn't playing themselves into less ice time on their own imo.

I guess Forsberg might see some 1st line C but realistically he'd be on the 2nd line to add some competitive depth... I think...

After watching Byers and Voros this week, I think Voros may be picking up Dane's apartment lease in Hartford. Clear some cap now to make room for an addition later.

Exactly what I thought. Parenteau wasnt bad in those two games, but he can wait in Hartford until/if someone's injured. Grachev isnt ready yet, we'll have to wait till pring or even to the next season.

voros is just awful, that guy is not a NHL player anymore. We'd better get rid of him asap.

He never was, atleast to me.

I think If you do aquire Forsberg, you just got to experiment with him on the same line as Gaborik. Forsberg has played plenty of WING in his career.

Voros to Hartford.
