Gaborik looks to be getting healthier from the knee/thigh injury he suffered 12 days ago.

Quote:
"His release is so fast you don't even know the puck is off his stick," Del Zotto said.

"I don't even know what the right word is ... 'unbelieveable,' maybe. Just being able to practise with him and play with him on the power play is incredible. There's no one like him."
Quote:
"When he's on the ice, we're a much more dangerous team," Rangers assistant coach Jim Schoenfeld said. "It's not only his scoring ability. He can skate himself out of trouble.

"He sees the game as well as anybody I've ever coached ... (and) he's been a great guy to work with."

that's a helluva long time to pay the guy.
I've been expouding how awesome hes been playing since the 2nd game of the preseason and all...but he's nowhere near a 6.5 million dollar player either.

ALSO, unlike in the forward line, we have TONS, and TONS of depth for defenseman. Sanguinetti could step in today.

I don't think anyone gets bought out. I mean why?. Gilroy and DelZotto will have the same contracts next yr. Staal needs a raise. I figure Girardi and Rozsival in a package is tradeable for one more expensive Dman. Sanguinetti can step in full time next yr.

The D has been overall a Plus for the team this yr

But the cap won't drop so the whole purpose of a amnesty buyout don't apply anymore.
thanks..I knew it was too good to be true.

On a side note, the Rangers are one of two teams in the league (STL is the other) who have yet to have a game go to a shootout.

Well, we defeated a defenseless team that didn't do much against us with their depleted roster. Good feeling for sure, but Calgary is a real team to measure the recovery against, if any is out there. I wish Vali continues to play, he had an A game last night, but it wont happen.

Vally played well, but that was far from an "A" game. Both goals he allowed were very stoppable.

He is no Lundqvist, you know. For him it's A in my book. Should he stop those two and had a shutout, I'd give him A+. Lundqvist is an elite G and should be kept to a higher standards.

Valiquette was terrible last night.

His rebound control was just awful. The Rangers played a great game in front of him.

The 2 goals were soft as hell. He made that one nice glove save...

I'd also like to express that I believe Valiquette is a bottom tier backup.

I know I'm probably in the minority here. Just my opinion...

I agree but only because there are so many former/potential starters in back-up roles right now. I don't think the league has ever had this many good goalies before. And I didn't say elite or stars. He's probably a third or fourth option for alot of teams.

I didn't think he had a terrible game. The defense was clearing puck all over the place, but still. The Oilers simply didn't play a good game yesterday and the Rangers took advantage. Calgary is better than us, so that game will be tough

Calgary will be the real challenge. Hopefully the team plays for Lundy like they did for Vally last night.

Yeah, a lot of teams backups aren't really "backups" so much as they're former starters trying to reclaim that spot, or young stars trying to claim the number one spot.

As far as pure backups go, Vally is pretty good.

The sooner Voros is sent to Hartford and Byers is a permanent member of the roster, the happier I'll be.

Pretty unbelievable considering that the Rangers relied heavily on the shootout the past few seasons. I'm glad we've moved beyond the "play for the shootout" mentality.

Montreal is like the Rangers of old, with 7 wins after regulation and only 1 win in regulation. A sure sign of mediocrity if I've ever seen one.
