This was probably to make the bruins mad since he is married to katherine tappin, one of the Bruins analysts or something. Thank the lord that you have taken Leach from us. He is trash. Just a stay at home, slow defenseman who is a career minor leaguer. Now our rookies will get a chance to prove themselves I hope. They wouldn't have gotten the chance if the canadiens didn't claim him. He is responsible defensively. Not a bad pick up if you have some injuries and need him to fill the role for a little while.

to help people understand the kind of player he is, let me put things into persepctive.

right now the devils defense is

white-mottau
salvadore-greene
fraser-murphy

jay leach was then called up to probably replaced muprhy.

think of him as a terrible, slow version of brendan witt

That's exactly what we need. We need a stable stay-at-home d-man who's not a turnover waiting to happen in his own zone. Since Marc-André Bergeron has been so awful, I don't see how somebody else, Leach included, could be worse.

He can't be any worse defensively than Marc-Andre Bergeron.

he definitely isnt worse defensively than MAB but he is MUCH slower.

you guys are kind of in the same boat as us defensively. you have some key injuries and have MAB in there as a puck moving defenseman, we have murphy(who ****in sucks) so leach and murphy were probably were going to be in and out of the line up replacing each other, but now in montreal, leach and MAB will probably be replacing each other(i think??)

We called up Mathieu Carle recently and he's played fairly well in 2 games so I think the idea is that Leach is going to take Carle's place in Hamilton.

We also had to put one of our Hamilton defensemen (Alex Henry) on waivers because he's been injured and on the Habs' roster the whole time so it's possible this is also just for extra depth in the event Henry gets claimed.

Well, MAB isn't a speedster to start with, so it's not much of a problem.

He is slow, and a black hole offensively, but he is solid on defence. Decent hitter too.

Last season. He has been in the AHL this season.

He had 1 assist in 24 games last year for the Devils. I wouldn't get too excited.

He was an injury call up. He would have gone back down after we got healthy.

If he can kill penalties half decently he'd be a decent addition to the roster. I rather we kept Henry and rewaived Leach to send him down instead but whatever.

He got burned a bunch of times at the AHL level by quick players and handles the puck like a grenaid.

He's bad, not sure why the Habs didn't call up Mark Weber instead.

From what I saw from him during training camp with the Lightning as long as you don't put him up against players with average speed or better and don't ask him to ever play the puck he's fine.

Cause he doesn't exist (Yannick Weber )

But seriously, they have to leave Weber/Subban in the AHL for a bit. It's true that the Habs rush players, we need to nurture our young talent.

Is Mark Weber Yannick Weber's brother?

Just kidding... I agree with you though...
