KINGS v. HAWKS, Post Game $5.00 fine for whining THOUGHTS & TIDBITS

No whining

Let's have a rational discussion about what needs to improve.

Here is the post game from http://lakingsnews.com

Here is how I see it. You can ***** and moan about this team’s performance over the last 2 days and you may be justified in doing so. I am personally perplexed as to how someone like Raitis Ivanans gets a single shift in this game in the third after we fall behind 3-1. But, one fact remains clear. When the Kings play well, no team can beat them. When they don’t, they fall. That is a huge step from last season when we played good games and still lost. Now, every win is rightfully earned and every loss is deserved. That is progress. We have the talent. We have the work ethic. We just have not been able to put it together for 2 games.

*** Kings @ Hawks 11/9/09 1-4 L Final ***

Well...

Kopitar had a nice goal on the bright side.

I think we had a couple chances but just couldn't bury them..

Not much to say on this one.

Very disappointing

Huet gets his 1st win vs. Kings

That is all I got.

We played good for 40 minutes, then things just fell apart.

The PK is still terrible.

We completely collapsed in our own end in the third period.

I want Fro and Zeus back with Brown.

Time to switch things up

Smyth - Kopitar - Williams
Frolov - Handzus - Brown
Parse - Stoll - Simmonds
Harrold- Richardson - Purcell

The second goal was unstoppable.

I'm now worried playing against the Canes. With our luck we'll end their long *** streak.

If Hammond posts anything else about TM giving the team another "day off" I am going to go nuts!

The silver lining is that we had the lion's share of scoring chances in the first, with an opportunity to go ahead early (in which we play at our best - with a lead). But Stoll hit the crossbar and Frolov couldn't finish. Second period, war of attrition, neutral zone basically had cement road blocks throughout for both teams. Madden scores a softie on Quick, our first line finally gets a cycle going, and what do you know? Kopitar taps in a rebound. Questionable call to end the second. Hawks score to start the third off a nice deflection. Floodgates open from there, and our guys basically pack it in.

Had one chance to make a game of it, but the post robbed Doughty. What can you do? Bounces didn't go our way this game - that's the reason teams play 82 games in a season. However, that doesn't excuse the Kings apparent lack of emotion and energy over the past two games.

Put Frolov-Handzus-Brown back together. Spreading our secondary scoring throughout our other three lines allows teams to key in on the Kopitar line, which Quenneville and the Hawks clearly did tonight. I know TM got a woody for Parse-Stoll-Brown after the Phoenix game, but and they worked decently in the Pitt game, but since then...ugh.

Good news is that we play some relatively weaker teams on this road trip. Hopefully this game wakes the Kings the hell up, because we have Phoenix AND Dallas nipping at our heels in the Pacific standings.

Secondary scoring. The closest thing we had to this consistently was Frolov - Handzus - Brown, and Murray couldn't stand that so he changed the lines back again. Now we Fro-Zues-Simmer all consistently cycling with no results. Stoll, who likes to shoot, should center Parse and Simmer.

Sit Ivanans. Whether he's dressed or not, he has no business touching the ice unless it's for retaliation.

Play Ersberg. This is Quick's first full season and who knows how he'll handle the long season? The backup is going to have to play eventually and if we feel he can't, find someone who can.

I thought Quick played a good game. The fist goal was weak though. That's been the story with him. He will keep them in the game 3 or 4 amazing saves but then let up 1 or 2 weak goals. Hopefully that's something he works out with experience. I think he will.

We played and solid 40 minutes. I though we had a good fore check and good passing. The hawks got some chances but Quick game up and not only made the saves but didn't give up rebounds. Then.... there was the last 20 minutes and 15 seconds. and it all went to hell.

the only way that puck wasn't going in was if Brouwer had stopped it completely.

He played the angle.....the shot was deflected.....deflected shots are the hardest to stop.
