Your thoughts on the Prince Charles @ Blackwatch thing

Just wondering what some of you think/are thinking about prince charles visiting/technically being in charge of the black watch.

Protesters just started throwing stuff at them, interesting.

If you've ever been there, it's a really cool place. The mess hall is named after my great grandfather who is a VC winner. It's all painted in habs colors and has a bar and stuff. Pretty proud of it.

But anyway, what are your thoughts on this?

I didn't hear about that.

I'm no royalist by any stretch. I think the whole thing is outdated. But there is such a thing as good manners. It's in the same neighbourhood as booing a national anthem. It's common sense. Crappy behaviour just makes you look . . . crappy

Charles can go **** himself.

The protesters are doing the right thing. Royalty is not welcome on our soil.

exactly, these guys are just acting obnoxious, and make all french canadian people look like immature petulants, I guess they accomplished their objective if it was to have people laughing at foolish quebecors in worldwide newspaper headlines, bravo.

It's pathetic we welcome the Monarchy here, considering they exploited and murdered many people of this nation. I also don't care about either Quebec or Canada. It just shows how stupid Quebecers are for accepting this.

It's called history.

Also the British monarchy/empire was better behaved than basically 99% of all regimes in the history of mankind, and the greatest advances in human liberty & prosperity happened in the U.K. and it's colonies. Things would be very different (worse) in the world today if Britain had sunk into the ocean 1000 years ago.

Not all of them are. Many are sovereignists though. Many were waving the Fleurdelisé (those who carry the flag are rarely federalists) or the flag of the Patriotes (a definite sign that you're dealing with independantists).

They behaved just the way they needed to to obtain what they wanted. If they had been more resistance, there would of been more crime.

But since it's only history, maybe we should forget about nazism and give Adolf Hitler's wannabes another chance to prove themselves. I mean, they can behave appropriately too, right?

Vive le National Socialism!

This whole thing just reeks of

and

and for the record I think the whole tradition of the monarchy is very outdated but is it so hard for people to show some class.

Those are hardly comparable with a movement that is preaching something about as old and outdated as the monarchy, though.

So yeah, what I'm seeing right now seems pretty funny to me.
