I thought the performance was positive, especially after some sloppy games. If the Habs are going anywhere, they need to play tight defensive games like these. The goals will come, but without disciplined play, they're going nowhere. Hopefully they won't fall too far this month.
Dude, who the hell do you think you are bringing in logic and common sense into the convo.

Spacek is out of shape, it's painfully obvious. He's got a double-chin for crissake! He gives the puck away OFTEN, and his supposed "hard" point-shot is non-existent. He's non-physical (which is why I don't like Hammer being with him, he's also non-physical) and he's not helping the team breakout with his sloppy passes.

Spacek is worse than Mara right now.
Are you kidding me? If someone is out of shape there is no ****ing way they'd be playing 25 minutes a game.

I don't know if its Perry Pearn or players, but we look a lot like last season's NYR on power play.

The Flames are on a whole another level entirely, that's for sure.

Although I blame Bob for having build a team of midgets.

I'm sorry, I think you've missed the part where he played Markov minutes against the toughest opposition in the game and manages to be a plus while allowing among the least goals against of all the Habs D-men.

Guy provides my team with that, I don't care how he looks or how he's doing it. You don't win with style points. Effectiveness before playstyle.

Jacques Martin is Michael Scott from the Office without being hilarious and actually being good at his job.

MA Bergeron, Like Brunet would say... OYOYOYOYOYOYO... Ohhh thats why he was siting at home. Its not that he was asking too much its just that he just not cut out for defensive plays!

If anyone should be booed, it's your namesake.

Seriously......1-0 with a depleted Defense against a strong Flames team with Kiprusoff on his A-game? That's not horrible. Somebody has to lose.

And how many howitzers has he delivered? Effecitvely that is.

How many giveaways?

How many hits?

For a "MathMan" you seem to use your bias a whole lot.

The Habs won't be able to admit to doing this until they're completely out of the race, but they've had too many games where nothing's gone their way, too many games where they've outplayed their opponents and lost, and they're not winning much when they get outplayed either, not that it seems to make much difference to their W-L record. (I can see how they could get frustrated).

Eventually, disappointment or not, they'll admit reality to themselves and start planning for the long term, and that would not be the worst thing to happen to the Habs in the last 100 years. But they won't say as much.

Chips is a checker. He's there to play defense, block shots and hit; any goals he may score are gravy. Lapierre and Latendresse are third-liners, which means that they do have more expectations to score, but their role is much the same... if only they'd do it.

I know it'd mean getting even smaller up front, but it may be time to bring Sergei back up. Pacioretty needs seasoning, and there's nobody else in Hamilton who can step in (unless you want to hope that Mike Glumac can translate his scoring touch to the NHL). I doubt that we could make a trade or anything for a space-filler there, so Sergei will have to be it.

Are you suggesting that Lapierre was our worst player tonight?

Seriously?

Over MAB, Leach, Spacek, Lats and Gionta?

If we were healthy, we could be similar to Flames. Why?

It starts with the defense. Rarely did Calgary get pinned in their own end. They were always cutting off passing lanes and play well in front of the net. This creates chances for better outlet passes. Kipper came up huge a couple of times, but for the most part, Calgary wins this game because of their defense.

Their top 4 of Sarich, Regehr, Phaneuf, and Bouwmeester is just fantastic. So much so that their #6 only had to chew up 10 minutes of ice-time. Jay Leach played almost as much as Cory Sarich (Calgary's #4) tonight.. that's the reason the Flames are so good.

Leach had a bad game? And lay off of Gionta.

We have to bury our chances, break away by Gomez cannot be missed !
We had chances but didn't score, Gorges is a 6-7 Dman, not more.

Not many players had great games but they still kept the powerful Flames to one goal.

Gomez struggled, Gionta wasn't great, Pyatt and White had their worst game, Lats had one decent shift, MAB may be the worst D in the league, the rest did ok, not more... and they still lost by only 1.

When you compare the Calgary Dmen to ours, it doesn't seem fair!

Its unfortunate because I feel this team is working hard on a nightly basis. The only problem is that we have way to many holes to fill. Especially up front. We cant compete nightly with contending teams.

It's halak's fault, he can't make the key saves

What did Leach do that was so poor?

And Gionta? Gionta might have had a bad game by his standards but Lapierre still couldn't hold up Gio's jockstrap tonight.

By the way, that was a brilliant penalty by Lappy in the offensive zone tonight.

I just can't fathom choosing the screen-name of a turtling coward.

Well, the team doesn't trust him so they can't score goals.
