Bad news, but not shocking.

Can Madden play on line 2? Or will someone else be moved before him?

If he's having chronic back problems and they're not congenital, he might want to look into improving his skating stride...

First of all, I dont like the hawks.. but i will share my insight.

I have had this exact surgery, I have/Had two herniated discs at the age of 17 and had the surgery at 19 so I can shed some insight.

I hope, pray to god he doesnt go through what I did. I still have degenerate discs and could have this surgery every 2 years and it will not do a damn thing. Hopefully his is different. What it does is it pinched a nerve in a part of your body and it causes severe pain.. In my body, it was like walking around with the worst charlie Horse for 2-3 years before you couldnt tolerate it. I blew mine at 17, it went away at 18 and i had surgery at 19 because it was so bad. It then returned last summer at the age of 21 and I ended up getting shots that after 13 months "knock on wood" took all the pain away again.

I have torn my ACL, had two herniated discs and injuried my groin since I was 17 and this surgery and recovery process was by far the hardest. Here was my recovery:

Month 1: No lifting over 10 lbs [and i wouldnt even do that]
month 2: No lifting over 20 lbs
Month 3: return to normal activity

He will be lucky to return to our loved sport after 12 weeks. Honestly, this process is so horrendous its not even funny. You start playing and get hit a day early and your screwed again. Its not like an ACL when your cleared your cleared. it could come back at ANY TIME.

I might have you hawks but I will never wish this upon anyone. Best of luck to Mr. B.

Ill be happy to answer questions but i doubt any would need to be asked.

If he having problems we just put him on IR until cleared and save the cap, simple as that.

Appreciate your insight. Dont wish injury or pain on anyone. Ok I lied, but not you.

I had three bulging discs (at the same time). Not as bad as being herniated but the nerve pain is exactly as you describe.

Did acupuncture and it worked for that day but was no long term fix. Only to get by the initial stabbing pain shooting thru my back. Opted for chiro and havent had any problems since, but Im also careful about it and dont play sports now.

Hope Bolland will be alright health wise long term but Im not as optomistic about his career.

Tallons Fails again. Fail Dale.

It sucks, but is kind of expected at this point. Let's hope he makes a full recovery in time for the playoffs.

Fail Dale? Were you saying don't resign Bolland a few months ago? Given our lack of depth at center, how is it a failure to lock up a solid second liner?

I wouldn't mind Madden getting some 2nd line ice time every now and then. He's a very solid guy, especially at the dot and defensively.
