I wouldn't mind seeing this line-up for Thursday;

Cammalleri - Gomez - Gionta
Kostitsyn - Plekanec - *Kostitsyn
**White/Pacioretty/Pyatt - Metropolit - Moen
Latendresse - Chipchura - Lapierre

Hamrlik - Spacek
Gorges - Mara
Leach - Carle

Halak - Price

* - Kostitsyn, Sergei. Not so much that he deserves the call-up, but if we don't get some secondary scoring soon, we have no shot at the playoffs. Sergei is creative, at times, and maybe will help his brother get back on track. Best case scenario - he plays well and possibly re-signs. Worst case scenario - he plays poorly and is sent down and we lose him forever.

** Pacioretty, White, Pyatt. Keep one of them until D'Agostini is healthy (and possibly Pyatt after). Send the other two down.

Thats not always true. Just look at Gomez, he's a turnover machine.

Btw, Leach has been coached by Larry Robinson and Scott Stevens. Can't go wrong there.

Wait, are you talking about the same Kovalev who has 7 points in 15 games and is -5??? Naw, that wouldn't be wasted cap space.

I like White's game. It's simple and gritty.

To think if we had people with brains running this organization this could have been our roster

Higgins Koivu Cammaleri
Kovalev Plekanec Kostitsyn
Kostitsyn Lapierre Latendresse
Begin Metropolit Kostopolous
Dandenault

Markov Komisarek
Hamrilik Streit
Bouillon Gorges
O'Byrne

Price
Halak

And i'm sure this team would be battling for first place not last ...but hey im sure you guys are happy with gomez gionta spacek gill pacioretty moen leech , being on the roster... the montreal canadiens will finish 27th in the NHL and as long as gomez and gionta are on the team they will battle for last place every year ... you read it here first...

Jay leach actually impressed me. he made good desicions, kept his composure, i liked him last night. MAB, WTF was that skating to the puck at 2km/h and having one of the flames forcheckers get to the puck first without a challenge. Seriously, wtf was that. And apparently according to the media, quebecers have a better ''ethic de travail''.. my ass they do. Where was laps's, or lats's ethic de travail. Non existant if you ask me.

We need to bring sergie back. Hes not our saviour but he might add some scoring depth, we need it badly and a couple of people need to sit for a couple of games IMO. next games line ups should be

Cammy Gomez Gionta
Akos Pleks Skos
Pacc Metro Moen
White Chip Pyatt

Hamm Spac
Georges Mara
Leach Carle

Our outlet pass is injured right now, so we are vulnerable to this kind of game. Scoring first is paramount for us.
Perfect assessment...totally agree.

We have zero threat from the backend, both with the lead pass and within the O zone. All the opponents have to do is put on a little forecheck pressure, and we'll either cough it up, or make a crappy clearing or hurried pass. If we don't find our speedy forwards at full tilt going through the neutral zone, we relinquish one of our main team attributes.

I see gomez get too cute in the offensive zone, but in terms of positioning, you can tell he's groomed in the nj system.

Cap space says "hi"

Oh, and in red are guys that are terrible. In blue are over the hill veterans that can't help as much now. We had to replace Koivu, he's not a 1st line center anymore and can't play as many minutes as Gomez. Also the Kostitsyn-Plekanec-Kovalev line stopped working a year ago.

Is it just me, or is Jay Leach a poor man's Josh Gorges? Nothing special, but does everything right, consistent and you can tell he's not dogging it.

I though the team played very well tonight, and played good exciting hockey. We lost 1-0 against a very good team, and got held off the board by some bad luck (Gomez breakaway), good goaltending, and some great defense. I'm much happier with this team than last years, as it seems we always have a chance to win games. Last years team sucked badly after x-mas. It was depressing listening to a team that had obviously given up.

With a few guys back, and some development in scoring, I think we'll get out fare share of wins.

As long as we keep it together until Markov comes back, we'll be smoking come playoffs.

FYI: How does this Defensive lineup look like:

Markov - O'byrn - Gill

Half of any good NHL teams D (even if it is a 1+(Norris caliber) , 5, 6), and these are guys on the shelf! Right now we are playing with two 7s and an 8 filling our bottom two. Wait till we get them back, especially Markov ... and we will have great goaltending, with great D. A winning combo IMO.

Go Habs go!

I was at the Bell and after Gomez's breakaway, the crowd went NUTS for 3 minutes and gave Habs a huge momentum shift.. god it was loud! however, sadly, Mara took a penalty and they lost the momentum.. it was just bad timing from Mara..

otherwise, it could've been a different game.

Honestly? In the time Kovalev was here did you not learn anything about the guy? When he's happy he plays well, when he's not he plays like #$%@. You put Kovalev on this team as the Captain and I guarantee you he would not have those numbers. The guy is obviously just playing for his salary in Ottawa, the most snobby and sleepy crowd in Canada. Now, you put the C on his shirt and have 23,000 fans cheering him everynight... that is when you see the real Kovalev.

With our goal scoring issues, it sure would be nice to have a second line with the likes of him, a Tanguay, a Koivu, a Ryder, etc. How about Streit on the D? Hometown discount. How about even a guy like Dandenault who could play anywhere half decent and always gave a lot of effort. Hell, I'd even take Bouillon back as a 3rd pairing guy if he would've been ok with taking a paycut.

Oh and by the way - Kovalev 6'1", 225. Tanguay 6', 190. Ryder 6'1", 196. Perhaps they didn't play big, but they sure don't get b^&$# slapped around in the offensive zone like the smurf line does.

Ryder ok, Kovalev of course but Tanguay? Gionta has thrice the physical presence he has
