Do I recall correctly? Didn't Opus give some of his Vcash to someone on here? After they lost it all on the Sens game?
MSE is the master at these threads. I went back and looked at MSE's first GDT's man have they evolved! I'm just glad we have someone who takes pride in them. I've seen some pathetic looking GDT's on this site.
damn I havent even look at the Sens lineup this year. Those top 3 lines look real nice imo. I'll be at this game getting $1 pretzels as long as Irish doesn't eat them all. awgawd
The forwards have been real nice this year. Even though Heatley isn't present, we certainly aren't missing him a great deal. Michalek has done an exceptional job replacing him and brings a lot to the table. Kovalev is a good 2nd line player and he's allowed us to put together a couple good scoring lines and spread the offense out. It's worked real well.
The **** part of it as others mentioned is the Defense. It was fine to start the year with Volchenkov but without him things started to unravel at times. Fillip Kuba was also missing to start the year too, and I suspect he's still playing with a bit of a groin injury so that's really holding us back right now.
I'm hoping that Volchenkov comes back healthy and that Karlsson finds his way back into the lineup later this year. He's not far off in his development, and his mistakes have been far less costly than some of the other questionable D-Men in the lineup. The only bright spot recently has been Matt Carkner who has been a career AHL'er up to this point, but has pretty much established himself as a good Top 4 shutdown guy with his play.
As for Emery, I'm hoping for him to do well, but not well enough that my Sens don't win. I never wanted him gone in Ottawa and it's clear to me that he wasn't given a fair shake. I think he would have done pretty well if Ottawa expressed some confidence in him, and gave him a second chance. It's nice to see he's done pretty well for you guys so far.
I have been waiting for this game since I heard Ray Emery signed with Philadelphia. This only spices up the rivlary we have between the two teams.
Its too bad there won't be any goalie fighting because there is no way Leclaire can take Emery.
Remember this? I am sure you all do.
How many guys did each team have left to finish the game with? I remember that both teams barely had enough.
What a gem of a game. If there's one thing that I wish I could see sometime during an NHL game, it would be another record-setting PIM game like that or a bench-clearing brawl. Either one would be awesome in today's NHL.
From now on every loss should be Opus' fault. I think it's much easier that way.
